Pros and Cons of the Blu Tango Android Smartphone

The Good, Bad, and Horrible Features of the Blu Tango Smartphone

Millionaire Hoy

Blu Products is an up and coming cell phone manufacturer and their flagship smartphone, the Blu Tango, is an entry level smartphone that mixes in an equal amount of good and bad features.

Pro: World Phone

One of the biggest perks of the Blu Tango Android smartphone is its world phone capabilities. If you're worried about overage charges and not being able to connect with friends, loved ones, and business acquaintances while you're abroad, you may get a kick out of the Blu Tango's world phone functionality. Regardless of if you're traveling to Spain, Egypt, France, or if you're hanging out in the "states", the Blu Tango will make sure that you're able to stay in contact with your network.

Con: Touchscreen

While most modern-day smartphones use capacitive touchscreen displays (think iPhone, EVO, Droid, etc.) that respond to finger presses, the Blu Tango smartphone uses another method. Instead of capacitive touchscreen technology, the Blu Tango has a resistive touchscreen that responds to pressure instead of electrical impulses. Resistive touchscreens are less responsive than capacitive touchscreens (and are a bit outdated) and the Blu Tango lacks basic touchscreen functionality like pinch to zoom.

Pro: Android

Considering that most people haven't heard of Blu Products, I'm impressed that this entry level phone runs on Android 2.2. Android support enables this smartphone to have access to the countless apps in the Android Marketplace and also bolsters this smartphone with extra features known to the Android platform.

Con: Cheap Build

Considering that the Blu Tango smartphone is sporting a resistive touchscreen it's of no surprise that its overall design comes off as cheap. Although most customers that are willing to take a risk on a seemingly generic smartphone brand aren't necessarily looking for the top of the line phone, but at $190 (more than the iPhone 4), the cheap design and build of the Tango is unacceptable.

Overall: Bad

After considering the many pros and cons of the Tango smartphone by Blu Products, this smartphone comes off as being a bit undesirable. The resistive touchscreen, basic camera, poor call quality and cheap build of the Blu Tango outweighs it's world phone capabilities and Android support '" and at $190, you'd be better off siding with another smartphone.
