In Mansfield, Ohio many lovely city parks await your discovery. As I am just visiting this area for a few weeks, I have only begun to explore life in Mansfield. I have yet to discover all of the city parks. However, I am a fan of those I have visited.

Let us begin with Prospect Park. Prospect Park is an urban park no doubt, but it is great spot for walking after dinner. Prospect Park features a community center building, rest rooms, a basketball court or two, a base ball diamond and a charming playground as well as many nice benches and trees. Prospect Park is a nice place for children to play and for families to cookout on the parks public use grills, and enjoy the picnic area also. Prospect Park is open until 11 pm and is on Prospect Drive. You will also enjoy knowing that the city police patrol this as well as all other city parks, frequently.

The Prospect Elementary School is nearby and also has a great playground for the enjoyment of the children. As well as basketball courts, hop scotch courts and all of the typical school playground equipment.

From there Sterkel Park is close by. Sterkel Park is an older park, but it is one of my favorites. This small but charming park seems to be in the country, although it is not. Sterkel Park is semi secluded, and set atop a hill. Sterkel park features a sand volleyball court, four tennis courts as well as restrooms, a playground and a picnic area, complete with a shelter house, and public grills. Additionally a nice meadow is available for the children's delight. Sterkel Park is regularly patrolled to keep it safe due to its semi secluded location, and is open until 11 pm for your enjoyment.

These two parks are just the beginning as there seems to be a city park every few blocks in this beautiful city of Mansfield. It is nice to see that the city encourages its residents to get outside and stay active. With so many options for visiting nicely maintained and crime free parks, it is hard not to stop and walk around on a beautiful day. When visiting the parks of the city of Mansfield, please clean up after yourself, your children and or your pets to keep the parks as beautiful and enjoyable for everyone in the area.
