The "Sideways" approach will get the attention of some of your more successful prospects because it can appeal to their ego and make them feel appreciated. The goal is simply to have your prospect look over everything with the hopes of them really liking it and wanting to join.
Below you will find examples of the "sideways" approach.
"Hi Bob. I'm calling because I need your advice. I just joined a new company called "xyz123" and I'm not really sure about everything yet. I know that you have been really successful, and I was wondering if you could take a look at this company and give me your professional opinion as to whether it is something I should really commit myself to."
Use this approach when you are too "chicken" to just use a "direct" approach. Be aware that some people might give you their "professional opinion" that you are wasting your time with something like this. They might say it's a scam or something like that. If they do, thank them for their opinion and just move on to get another opinion.
The sideways approach is an invitation to have a prospect look at your business. You are not selling or presenting anything at this point.
The selling and presenting will come later. You just want to invite at first. And even when the prospect has accepted the invitation, you should never do the selling or presenting yourself. Use the tools, system, and your team to do that.
Good luck with your prospecting!
