Prospecting and Recruiting - You Will Fail with Your Warm List, Use These Two Ideas Instead and You and Your Team Will Succeed
1. Your warm list or your own contacts
2. Creating your own leads
3. Purchasing leads
The problem with your own contacts is that they consist of your friends, family, co-workers, people from the community, etc., and you might not have any desire to solicit them for business. They probably have no interest in being solicited by you. This group never expressed an interest in your business in the first place. If your warm list is your only form of lead generation, your success will range from low to non-existent.
You will ultimately fail from only working your warm list because even if you are good enough at sales to recruit a few people, your new recruits might not recruit anyone at all. All of your time will be spent trying to motivate, recommit and train your failing team. In the meantime, you are not making any money because you are not spending any time prospecting and recruiting because you are running an adult day care.
Regardless of your efforts, your team members will quit simply because they are losing too much money and see no hope for change. You will eventually quit because your business will not be making any money since you have exhausted your warm list.
Even people with a huge network will eventually run out of people to contact about their business.
You create your own leads by marketing "you." You are unique and have special talents and abilities that nobody else on earth has. Show people that you are the type of person that can help them succeed. Some will be interested and some won't. The ones that are interested will be the type of people that you would want to work with anyway.
Creating your own leads will usually result in finding the most motivated and trusting prospects. This is because these prospects will be sold on the idea that you are someone that can help them succeed. They won't care as much about the primary business you promote, they will just feel that you can help them get what they want.
After going through your marketing system, they will have confidence that they can and will make money with you. They either will contact you first, or will at least be familiar with you and your system by the time you follow up with them. Your friendly communication will be more along the lines of helping answer a few simple questions rather than a sales pitch before they join.
Creating your own leads can be very expensive and time consuming. You can do it without spending a lot of money, but may lose money in the form of time while trying to figure out how to do it in the first place let alone what works best for you.
There is a lot that you will need to learn. I continually work to create my own leads and I encourage anyone that is truly serious to do the same. Have patience when creating your own leads, and do not make this your only form of prospecting and recruiting. There is a quicker and easier way. Keep reading.
My favorite form of prospecting and building my business is through calling leads. When I call leads, I know that I am speaking with individuals that have already expressed an interest in starting a home-based business or in finding a way to increase their monthly income.
Quality leads do cost money. However, I believe that it is actually cheaper and more effective to buy quality leads than to go through the cost and hassle of creating your own leads through different forms of marketing and advertising. Someone else has already gone through the trial and error of finding interested prospects that are looking for an opportunity.
Running a list of quality purchased leads through a good marketing system that presents, follows up, and closes for you can put you into profit as soon as the day you buy those leads. I know this because I have done it many, many times. Teach your team to do the same and you will experience the power of leveraged duplication.
As you make sales with purchased leads, and continue to create your own leads and convert them into even more sales, your checks will continue to stream in and get bigger and bigger. As you teach this to your team, their checks will stream in and get bigger and bigger. This additional team volume will give you leveraged income and means that your commissions will continue to increase.
The best part about this is that you can now go back and successfully work your warm market because you can show them that you have a system that allows them to succeed without having to rely on their warm market.
They might actually start approaching you because they hear about your success. They might see you upgrading your vehicles, your home, second home, taking more vacations, possibly quitting your job, etc.
More and more of them will want to work with you because you will see that your system is working for you and your entire team. They will want to be part of a winning team and join up with you.
Remember to set the example for your team by continually prospecting and recruiting. Do not just wait for your team to make you rich. Lead by example and show them that you continue to make new sales with purchased leads as well as the leads that you continually create. Your team will do what they see you do.
