Protect Your Children from Fireworks Accidents During July 4th

Fireworks Safety Tips

C.B. Jones
The forth of July is a time for family and friends to get together and celebrate the birth of our great nation. A massive fireworks display has become a staple of said celebration, as citizens across America have all purchased their fair share of colorful explosives leading up to the holiday. Here are a handful of useful tips to ensure your 5th of July don't end up with anybody in the hospital.

1.) Don't point fireworks at people or animals.
It's funny when Wile E. Coyote gets blown up in the cartoons, isn't it? Well, if you're reckless with that bottle rocket in my left hand, and your niece just happens to cross your path, bad things can happen if it should happen to go off. Never let your attention get diverted when handling explosives.

2.) Don't let children handle explosives.
Aside from sparklers(aka, that thing that looks like a defective incense), kids shouldn't be allowed to to light or handle fireworks by themselves. As a parental unit, you have to be there to make sure that they don't do anything that could get them hurt, or cause pain to anyone else in the area.

3.) Keep bucket of water/fire extinguisher on hand.
You never know when a seemingly innocent flame will all of the sudden turn into a raging inferno.Sparklers can ignite dry leafs, oily rags, and anything else that you might have in the back yard. The difference between having to explain to the fire department why you thought you needed 12 sparklers lit at once, and not having to talk to them at all is a bucket of water.

4.) Read the instructions.
If the label on the fireworks tell you to plant it on the ground, light the string, then run, you should probably do what that label says. It's there for a reason, you know. You're safety is a much higher priority than you're self image. Who cares if you run like a girl? As long as you have all of your appendages in tact for the remainder of the year, you're sissy running style won't matter.

5.) Never use fireworks inside.
Things that are made to blow up, or emit bright colors after being lit by a match, these are usually meant for outdoors use exclusively. Could use light fireworks inside of a home of building? I'm sure it is possible. I'd advice against it,unless you really hate your home with a passion Even then, You should only use fireworks outside.
