Protect Your PC by Online Backup of Your Hardrive with Carbonite
Lightning Hit My Computer and the Online Backup Saved the Day
The inevitable happened last weekend in Gulfport, Ms. the thunderstorms that are common in South Mississippi in the late afternoon were particularly bad last weekend. When I returned to my office Monday, my computer that I use to do most of my personal work was damaged and all my files on the hard drive were lost. My computer guy could not save my files. I had a surge protector and that didn't stop the damage. The other computers in my office were not damaged.
I had forgotten about the online service that I had purchased form Carbonite last October.
I am now in the process of restoring all my files to my new computer. The Carbonite backup is loading back all my files in the background even as I write this article. The purchase of this service is even more valuable now because I cannot imagine the problems I would have if I did not have this backup. The beauty of this backup is that it constantly runs in the background and I don't have to remember to do anything. I wrote an article last October about Carbonite and how it would have saved what I lost in Hurricane Katrina. That prophecy has come through, as I knew eventually this misfortune would have happened. The registration is a very reasonable monthly fee, which is now a bargain for sure.
I would highly recommend people looking into some type of automatic backup such as Carbonite. The service is outstanding and I have not lost valuable data.
