Protecting Your Privacy, What, When, Why and How to Delete a Facebook Account

Trouble in Facebook Paradise?

Lori Lane
So, some Facebook users are tired of weak Facebook privacy strategies and the social network taking up all of their free time in accomplishing something productive. Before jumping on that train and deleting that account ask these four questions, what, when, why and how.

What's Facebook? Only the largest social network across the globe, hello? Myspace now takes back seat to Facebook due to Facebook's popularity growth. Not only can a person connect with old friends they can catch up on the latest deals of their favorite places, news updates, videos, comments, messages and so on. Facebook proves to be a useful tool in advertising - far more than Myspace. However, there's trouble in paradise these Facebook days. More Facebook users are deleting accounts.

When not to delete a Facebook account? Before considering deleting that account spread your wings and see what flies while taking a Facebook break. Again, if it's a privacy issue then go ahead and delete the Facebook account. That is if the personal privacy settings doesn't do your privacy justice.

Why delete a Facebook account? Reports reflect that there's a jump in Facebook deletions due to private information traveling internationally, and otherwise. The latest Mixx Buzzers update encourages this general Facebook warning that has been the media talk for the last couple of months.

Last thing a person needs is private information falling into the wrong hands. From profile facts, personal comments, videos to messages there is no end to what Facebook can share with the world, well, unless someone restricts the world from what they have access to. Setting a Facebook account access out of the "friends of friends" to "only friends" can assist in various ways. But it still may not protect general information of a user.

Be aware, or beware, of those liars with strange outlandish motives who tag along with friends only to request a friendship add geared to take part on your friends list. As they say "the wolves sometimes wear sheep clothing." There's an easy way around this - don't add anyone onto a friends list unless you personally know them or knew them, period.

Delete anyone you do not know by clicking on "Account" (found on top right of screen), "Edit Friends" then click on "Friends" under the word "List" located on the left side of the screen. Click the "X" to delete a friend from the friends list.

How to delete a Facebook account? Let us assist in that golden question "how do I delete my Facebook account?" Minimize this page and open a new window to sign-in to Facebook. Follow this deletion link and enter submit. When you delete that Facebook account what are the chances you'd go back? Facebook allows a person time to change their mind.

Facebook policy states a person is given a grace period to sign back in resulting in the dismantle process of deletion. If you decide to "change your mind" sign-in within two weeks from deleting the Facebook account to avoid any mistakes or mishaps on Facebook's part of an early release of account.

If Facebook doesn't do it for you maybe the phone book will. Calling someone is another great way to connect privately and productively.
