Protection from the Sun and Insects

Yes, You Can Get Both in One Product

It's that time of year again. Time for outdoor fun and unfortunately also time for sunburn and insect bites. There
are several products on the market today that can help protect you from both of these uncomfortable situations.

If you are looking for an all natural product you should try Herbal Armor Bug & Sun. It is an all natural product that
contains an SPF ( sun protection factor) of 15. It also has a time release insect repellent with five essential oils
including citronella, peppermint, cedar, lemongrass and geranium. Herbal Armor has a pleasant smell, is non-
greasy and is water and sweat resistant. It is safe to use on anyone over the age of six months and it is
biodegradable.

Another natural choice is California Baby. It has an SPF of 30+ and is hypoallergenic. California Baby contains essential oils for repelling insects and Green Tea and Vitamin E to protect against free radicals. It does not contain any chemical sunscreens.
Bull Frog Mosquito Coast SPF 30 is also a great product. While containing sunscreen it also protects against west nile carrying mosquitoes with no concern of the dangers of DEET that some products contain.

The next two products are my choice of protection for my family. Avon's Skin-So-Soft Bug Guard Plus SPF 30 Cool n' Fabulous Disappearing Color Lotion is an excellent product if you have children. The lotion is bright blue so you are sure not to miss an inch of your little ones delicate skin. Once it is rubbed in, the color fades away to non-greasy protection against mosquitoes, deer ticks, no seeums, gnats, sand flies and biting midges.

Avon also carries a great product for my husband and I to use. It is Skin-So-Soft Bug Guard Plus SPF 30. It comes in an aerosol spray that is quite easy to use and dries to non-greasy protection. The adult version of Bug Guard Plus also repels mosquitoes, gnats, no seeums, sand flies and biting midges. It is DEET free and hypoallergenic.

The one drawback of the Avon products is that they are not water and sweat resistant so they do need to be re-applied after swimming or exercise but it is definitely worth the extra effort for the protection they provide.
