1. 100 calories per serving. At 100 calories per 8.25 fluid ounce serving with a breakdown of 2.5g of fat, 6g of carbohydrates and 15g of protein it is a sound breakdown for any average fitness and/or weight loss enthusiast.
2. No sugar added. The product's sweetness comes from sucralose which may or may not fit into your health and wellness protocol.
3. Lactose free. The packaging is prominently labeled as being "lactose free" yet when you read the fine print in the ingredient breakdown you can see it says, "This product contains ingredients derived from milk."
As far as taste and serving size/nutritional breakdown this product delivers fairly well. If one is concerned about ingesting artificial flavorings then this is not the product for you. There are also ingredients that would not be in alignment with the needs of those on a gluten free diet.
Regarding price; this is a ready-mixed drink-right-out-of-the-container shake (refrigeration is not required to maintain shelf-life or ingestion) so you will be paying a premium. But when you compare it to the fresh shakes made at the gym or those available for purchase at retailers it's still a good buy for a person of smaller/average stature. A four-pack ranges in price from $5.00 to $7.99 which is available at both local retailers or online. At $1.25 per serving right after a good workout this is a good buy.
By and large this product seems to deliver on all of its articulated selling features with one exception: the "milk free" assumption that goes along with those who are restricted to a lactose free diet. The packaging is deceptive regarding its milk content and may be upsetting to those who have digestive issues related to ingesting milk and milk based products.
As someone who has digestive issues the deceptive labeling is a bit irritating but after ingesting proper serving sizes of this product there weren't any major symptoms experienced. So the resulting review is: love it.
