The Value of Wisdom

DeBorrahK
Wisdom is an invaluable gift from God! Proverbs provides examples of the wisdom that Solomon was famous for! As we grow spiritually we increase in wisdom. We then, become better equipped to determine and distinguish right from wrong. Spiritual wisdom is inclusive of trusting and obeying God. God will never tell you to do anything morally wrong or to do anything that goes against his word! Yes! You can obtain knowledge without knowing God. But you will miss countless perceptive benefits that godly wisdom provides in knowing how to apply the acquired knowledge. Wisdom is useful for; Everyone, the simple who are ignorant. For those who are disrespectful, for the foolish and anyone in between.

Quite often when one mentions wealth or gold the first thing that usually comes to mind is money! Proverbs teaches us that wealth goes far beyond monetary or tangible possessions! "The earth is the Lord's and everything in it, the world and ALL that live in it..." Psalms 24. This tells you that everything really belongs to God! Wisdom comes from God! Wood comes from his trees, leather comes from his cows, cotton & food comes from his land, gold, silver, metals and minerals comes from his earth, water comes from..... "For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things . But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow... " Matthew 6. All of God's word is true! Whenever we are lacking in any area in our lives we need to seek God first! We have to trust him and step out on faith!

Our country is currently experiencing an economic recession and our budget has a deficit that is in the trillions of $$$$$$$. Many are greatly suffering and have lost corporations, businesses, careers, jobs, homes and continue to do so. All throughout the world many countries are financially strapped... Everyone has globally been impacted one way or the other! From all of this we can clearly see that our security & significance cannot be only in material possessions that come and go! It goes so much deeper! Here In Proverbs one can discover that the key to our wellbeing is found in our relationship with the Lord! Here lies the goldmine of spiritual wisdom ~

Wisdom is quite practical! It's learning how to become more responsible with whatever has been entrusted to you. To make the best of what little or much you have! Learning how to live a moral life when, "now anything goes!" In today's time even when you are responsible there are circumstances beyond one's control that can result in great losses in many areas of life! All things considered how does one find a balance in all of it? Here is when the godly wisdom rises to the occasion to instruct us. Here, Solomon freely shares with us his relevant acquired wisdom! The Proverbs yields valuable instruction for becoming disciplined and leading a productive and moral life!

Proverbs 2

Key Verse: "My son if you accept my commands within you, turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding and if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding, and if you look for it as silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God."

When it is all said and done attaining wisdom is priceless! I am sure that you have heard the saying; "20/20 is hindsight" If I only would have... There is no going back! So press forward!

In Proverbs 2 we are encouraged to seek understanding above all else! To seek it as though we were looking for silver. Silver has to be extracted from lead ore & copper ore... The refining process was done by smelting or chemical leaching it was an arduous task. Now of course the refining process has been somewhat updated due to modern technology! My point is that it takes time and commitment to glean the desired end result! One must continually mine for wisdom! Seeking understanding is a process that takes time.... Being diligent helps us to discover the pathway to godly knowledge!

Seeking godly wisdom consistently helps us to better "go through" life's many challenges." One must also become aware of the many ways of entrapment! Proverbs says; "From the seductress who flatters with her words, Who forsakes the companion of her youth and forgets the companion of her youth, And forgets the covenant of her God." It is important to take time and get to know who you are marrying. Do you share the same values or morals? Today people change partners like changing a pair of shoes! Divorce is raging! Families are being ripped apart, 55- 60% of marriages end in divorce! The world now gives so many options that many stay married just until they feel like doing something else... I wonder in ten years or so what's ahead for all the children? Many have simply forgotten that they made a vow of commitment and faithfulness to not only their spouse, but to the Lord as well, when they said "I do!" Now, it's I want what you have and I am out of here...

I hope as you read this Proverb you will take some time and digest what is being said! Each time you read a Proverb you will ascertain a deeper meaning! There are many more nuggets of spiritual wisdom to discover, make some personal mental notes and see if it speaks to your heart!

Proverbs 2 concludes by telling us; "For the upright will live in the land, and the blameless will remain in it; but the wicked will be cut off from the land, and the unfaithful will be torn from it."
