P.S. 58 The Carroll School recently opened a brand new science lab. The school held an official ribbon cutting ceremony on December 17, 2010 .

The high tech lab is equipped with a SMART board, an interactive whiteboard, new computers and a digital microscope. While the whole school will use the new lab to conduct research, it will be primarily used by upper-grade students.

Former City Councilmember Bill De Blasio gave the school RESO-A grants to fund the laboratory according to the school's press release. It took five years for the lab to be built and it was made possible with fundraising and the support of parents.
