PS3 Vs. Xbox 360

Why You Should Want a PS3 Over the 360

Jake James
Allow me to open this article by pointing out the fact that this is not an argument of why the Playstation 3 is better than Xbox 360, but more of an explanation as to why someone would buy a PS3 over the 360. I'm personally an owner of both consoles and greatly enjoy them for different reasons and uses. So let's begin by looking at why one would choose a PS3 over 360.

Free Online Gaming - The Playstation 3 allows you to participate in online multiplayer as well as visit their online store for absolutely no charge, whereas the Xbox 360 requires a monthly fee for those rights. So if you don't want to pay monthly fees, then the PS3 is for you.

Blu-Ray Capability - If you want the highest quality audio/video experience, then PS3 is for you. The PS3 runs on Blu-Ray discs, which offers full 1080p audio/video. The normal human probably cannot notice the difference, but the home theater enthusiasts would definitely opt for the Playstation 3 experience.

Previous Sony Users - If you already own a PS2 or PSP then you want the Playstation 3. You can play your PS2 games on most of the PS3 systems and it's rumored that PS3 is coming out with some downloadable content that will let you play PS2 games on all the PS3 hardware. The jump from PS2 to PS3 is seamless. If you own a PSP then you definitely want a PS3. The two work hand-in-hand and can easily transfer information back and forth.

Easily Upgradeable and USB Connections - It is very easy to upgrade you hard drive on the PS3 and fairly inexpensive. You can also install Linux on the PS3 to make it more like a computer. This allows you to easily search the web and run MS Office Tools. In terms of USB connections, the PS3 is the champ. You can connect almost any USB device and the system will recognize it. This includes mice and keyboards. The great thing about this is you don't have to buy Sony specific devices and you can use what you already own.

Bluetooth - The PS3 easily recognizes Bluetooth devices. You can use the same Bluetooth headset you use for your phone on your PS3 to chat and use in online play to talk with your team or talk trash to the opposition.

I'm not going to get into which system has better games because that is completely a personal preference. So if the five above mentioned topics are of importance to you, then the PS3 is the choice for you. I hope this information is helpful in your decisions on which side of the console war you want to be part of.
