So what's next? This is a question people are already asking. What can Sony do to make the PS4 system greater than their competition? A big problem Sony made with PS3 was the choice of an exclusive feature called Blu-Ray. When thinking of Blu-Ray, the first thought is a DVD player but is that what a gamer really wants a fancy DVD player? Xbox360 chose HD-DVD format and to have this feature it is sold separately, ergo, if you want a DVD player go buy it but they are selling a Gaming Console. Wii offers interactive gaming that has people of all ages purchasing their system.
Sony will also have to work on having more available game titles. Anyone who owns PS3 will complain about this first. When PS3 was released their game section looked pretty sad next the competition.
Why will Sony not admit that people love Online Gaming? Microsoft has made online gaming so easy access anyone can do it. Look at Xbox Live, at any given time there are around 80,000 people playing Halo3 online. That is only one game imagine how many others are playing the new titles such as Guitar Hero, Rockband, Call of Duty 4, and Madden. World of Warcraft is an online game that is played by millions of people! If Sony is worried about people being upset about paying to play online, check out how many Xboxlive accounts exist, thousands, probably million! That is proof that people enjoy online gaming, so much that they will pay a fee on top of the bill from their internet provider to participate.
Sony has the money and the technology to offer a top of the line gaming platform the only problem remains, their research and development department is doing a poor job. Ps4 should not focus on what type of laser reader but rather what type of gaming experience they will offer. If PS4 could have the capabilities of the competitions consoles (i.e. simulation and easy to access online gaming) with the same game selection, they would reign victorious. The Blu-Ray should be optional because not everyone that enjoys gaming has that same interest in watching movies.
Many factors will play a part in the next generation of game consoles but who will win next time? We will have to wait to find out but one thing is for sure if Sony is planning PS4 then Microsoft will be planning a new Xbox. Technology only progresses from here and the possibilities are endless when it comes video games. The years to come are going to be exciting for the video game industry and the enthusiastic gamers!

The Blu-ray reader isn't just for movies. The games themselves are written on blu-ray discs because they have the storage capacity for rich, high definition visuals. Taking away The Blu-ray player would mean a loss of visual quality in the games' graphics.
