Modified by me from 1650 Scottish Psalter.
Music, a 1784 tune sometimes used for hymn "I sing the mighty power of God." Last stanza uses the last half of the tune.
Psalm of David, in his fleeing from the face of Absalom his son
Jehovah, how've my woes increased.
Against me many rise.
Of my soul many say, For him
in God no saving lies.
Yet you my shield and glory are,
th'uplifter of my head.
I cried, and from his holy hill
Jehovah answer made.
I have lain down, I sleep, I've waked;
Jehovah me sustains.
I do not fear ten thousands that
have set round me against.
Jehovah, rise; my God, save me
for you have hit all my
enemies' cheeks, and you broke the
teeth of the wicked men.
Salvati-on doth come to us
from Jehovah alone.
Upon your people your blessing.
Selah. Mm-mm-mm-mm.

Psalm 4
Modified by me from Scottish Psalter of A.D. 1650. Use freely.
Music: hymn "Only trust him now" (composer/writer died A.D. 1877). Last two lines of music repeated to sing last two lines of psalm, and in the last line the words "Me in" had better be merged together. (See sung version when I get it up.)
To the overseer with stringed instruments, Psalm of David.
Give ear unto me when I call
God of my righteousness
Have mercy; hear my prayer; you have
Enlarged me in distress.
O you the sons of men, 'till when
Will you love vanities?
'Till when my glory turn to shame?
And will you follow lies?
And know you that Jehovah for
Himself a saint doth choose.
Jehovah when I on him call
To hear will not refuse.
Fear, and sin not; talk with your heart
In bed, and silent be.
Give offerings of righteousness
And Jehovah trust ye.
O who doth show us any good?
Is that which many say.
On us lift up your face's light
Jehovah, we do pray.
You've given joy into my heart
From when their corn and wine
Have multiplied been. And to sleep
In peace I lay me down,
For you, Jehovah, alone cause
Me in confidence to dwell.

Thank you Bro. Wellman, and Merry Christmas. Glad to serve. And thank God there are better musicians also singing Psalms and making them singable--the Kingdom is big! What matters is that triune Jehovah be praised, by whoever in whatever way. If my ways help some pople, great, and if other ways, with psalms and with other music, help better, I rejoice that God be praised. Thanks again for your welcome.
Andrew, I thank you for this. What an inspiriation and you're spot on. I have not seen you on AC yet, so let me extend to you a warm WELCOME to the AC community. It is wonderful in the way that you write & I have never heard these put to music before. As an amature musician, I love to sing and praise Him in song. And I believe you are using the Psalms exactly what they were intended for my friend. This is great indeed and nice to have you on the site my friend. Blessings. : - )
