Psychiatry's Antidepressants: At the Root of Bizarre Acts of Violence
Bang Bang They're Dead - Antidepressants Pulling the Trigger in School Shootings
It seems as though a week doesn't go by without reading about an inexplicable act of violence, including school shootings. In most of these cases, the perpetrators of these acts have been on psychiatric drugs, especially the newer antidepressants.
The first case I ran into was in the late 80's when one 14 year-old Ritalin user from Canton, Massachusetts killed another child of the same ago who was also on this drug, with a baseball bat. When looking into the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual, 3rd edition (DSM III) of the American Psychiatric Association, under Amphetamine … Delusional Disorder (delusions from ADHD drugs like Ritalin, Adderall, Dexedrine, etc.), it stated:
"Associated features: Distortion of body image and misperception of people's faces may occur. Initially, suspiciousness and curiosity may be experienced with pleasure. However, suspiciousness and paranoid delusions may later induce aggressive or violent action against "enemies." The hallucination of bugs or vermin crawling in or under the skin (formication) can lead to scratching and extensive skin excoriations."
In other words, psychiatry knew that these drugs could turn children psychotically violent back in 1980 when this edition of the APA's diagnostic bible was written. Other experiments have been done with these amphetamines over the years to show how they can make people psychotic. Japanese Kamikaze pilots were pumped up with amphetamines to make them more likely to give up their lives to kill Americans in WWII.
Not long after this Canton case, I ran into a man from southern Connecticut who shot himself in the head while on the new antidepressant Prozac. Fortunately, he was a poor shot and lived. He said that he didn't remember the few days prior to shooting himself but was filled in by his girlfriend. While in a psychotic stage due to the drug, he said he was up until 3:00 A.M., painting his house, nervously active and even jamming a knife into the floor with a two-year-old child next to him. This state of restlessness that often occurs before acts of violence induced by antipsychotics and the newer antidepressants is called akathisia. The following definition is from the Longman Dictionary of Psychiatry and Psychology:
Akathisia: an anxiety reaction characterized by inability to sit down (Greek, "not sitting"); also, inability to sit still, accompanied by extreme restlessness and jitteriness due to heavy dosages of …"
This dictionary was written back in 1984, so yes, psychiatry has known for a long time that their drugs could create bizarre acts of violence.
Shortly after the Connecticut case, I found a lady from the New Hampshire coast who killed herself on this same antidepressant but came back to life. She was a parent who was having some difficulties in life so was prescribed that same new antidepressant. After taking it for a few weeks, she said that she was happy and whistling while walking down the street to a gun shop and thought it would be a wonderful thing to blow her head off. She bought a shotgun, took it home, and that night, aimed the gun at her head. She decided that blowing her head off would be too upsetting for the children who were watching TV, so "happily" swallowed a bottle of pills. At the hospital, her vital signs were not reading, but fortunately, she came back to life to tell her story.
Not much later, a Kittery, Maine lady on a newer antidepressant was up late all night with a lot of anxiety, burned her house down, killed her husband with an axe and then took her own life. I asked the medical examiner to perform a toxicology test to find if she were on antidepressants. The medical examiner refused but allowed me to pay for it, which I did. They result was the same antidepressant in the body.
Later, in Wakefield, Massachusetts, a mass shooting of fellow employees was committed by Michael "Mucko" McDermott. The media started looking at "reasons" such as a back tax bill. I asked a reporter for the Boston Herald to check his medical cabinet. The result was that McDermott was prescribed three antidepressants at a time, with one of the dosages recently doubled.
These are a very few of the cases. From Columbine (Eric Harris - Luvox), to Springfield, Oregon (Kipland Kinkel - Prozac) to Red Lake Indian Reservation (Jeff Weise - Prozac), to Conyers, GA (T. J. Solomon - Ritalin), to recently in Bailey, Colorado (Duane Morrison - antidepressants in his Jeep) and many, many more, most of these bizarre acts of violence have been related to psychiatric drugs that are known to cause these reactions.
As long as we continue to drug eight million US children and tens of millions of adults with these drugs that are far more likely to increase than decrease acts of suicide and violence in people, the more they will be turned into psychotic killers. With hundreds of billions of dollars being made by this legal psychiatric drugging cartel, only your actions of getting this word out can protect our society.
