Psychic Crafts: 7 Simple Steps to Make Your Own Dream Catcher

Tana Hoy
A dream catcher is one of the many very popular psychic crafts nowadays. For over hundreds of years, our ancestors have used psychic dream catchers to "catch" and trap bad dreams and foster good ones in its place. The use of psychic dream catchers doesn't stop there; these psychic tools are also used catch evil spirits and keep you protected during the vulnerable hours while you sleep.

The 7 Steps to Create a Psychic Dream Catcher

These days, dream catchers are a very common psychic accessory and they're widely available in store. So let's say you want a more personalized dream catcher, let me show you how to create your very own psychic dream catcher in 7 very easy steps.

These are what you need for this psychic project:

- 1 piece 5" metal ring

- 4 yards of suede lacing (1/8 inch diameter, this is a leather-like kind of thread)

- 3 yards imitation sinew (you can find this at a Native American, New Age or Spiritual shop)

- 1 small conch (conches come in different designs, choose whichever design you like to use)

- 1 set of 12 crow beads (this set should be of the same color, we'll call this "color 1" set)

- 1 set of 6 crow beads (choose a different color for this set, we'll refer to this as "color 2" set)

- 12 Feathers (you're free to use any variety you would like)

- A pair of scissors

- Glue

- Clothes peg (to keep everything alongside one another while you make your psychic dream catcher)

Procedure:

1. Cut 2/12 yards of suede lacing and glue one of its ends on the metal ring; use the clothes peg to put it in place. After that, wrap the ring with the lacing until it is completely covered. Remember to glue the ends as well, and be sure that the glue is all dried up before you take out the clothes peg.

2. Then, start making the web for your ring. You will do this by tying one end of the imitation sinew to the ring. Have 9 half hitch knots throughout the ring (about 1 1/2 inches away from each other). Keep in mind to keep the thread snug between the knots.

3. There after, begin with the next inner row of your web by tying hitches in the middle of the thread that you have already weaved on row 1. Keep on tying hitches around and around to make inner layers, until you end up with a tiny hole at the middle of your web. Once you get to the center of your ring, tie your thread into a double knot and mount it with a drop of glue. Then, remove any excess piece of thread from your web.

4. Good job -- you now have a wrapped and webbed ring. Now it's time to make that loop that you will use to hang your psychic dream catcher. For this, prepare a 12 inch piece of suede lacing; tie the two ends together and secure with a knot. At the top of your ring, attach your loop by slipping one end through the ring, then around the ring, and above the knot. To keep the lacing in place, you need to pull it tightly.

5. You will now add the hanging sections of your psychic dream catcher. Have 3 pieces of suede lacing that are each 8 inches long. On both sides of your ring, tie 2 piece of suede lacing about one third of the way up each side of the ring using a double knot. Next, string 3 crow beads onto each piece of lacing and have this secured with a knot (alternately have a "color 1", followed by a "color 2", then another "color 1" bead).

6. Now on to the third piece of 8 inch suede lacing -- use this to attach the small conch to the middle of the ring (the conch will be tied to the ring using the suede lacing, with both ends of the lacing dangling). Have 3 crow beads on each side of the lacing (have the same alternate pattern as the previous hanging sections of your psychic dream catcher).

7. For the last and finishing touch on your psychic craft -- insert 2 feathers each into the beads of the adjacent sides your psychic dream catcher (glue them if ever you need to) -- and the 8 other feathers must be placed on both sides of your conch (4 on each side).

Congratulations on your very own psychic dream catcher! You may now trap bad dreams and enjoy every moment of dreamland.
