Public Space Travel a Reality?

Sebastian Thomas
Ever thought about or were interested in space travel? Well, it looks like Virgin Galactic is offering to be the world's first public spaceline. Virgin Galactic will own and operate its privately built spaceships, modeled on the remarkable, history-making Spaceship One. The departure point will be at New Mexico, USA. Not only will this include suborbital travel, but orbital and even lunar travel. These spaceships will allow affordable sub-orbital space tourism for the first time in the history.

Right now, all of America's human space flight programs cost around $7 billion a year. That's pennies per person per day. In 2006, according to the USDA, Americans spent more than $154 billion on alcohol. We spend around $10 billion a month in Iraq. Do you think these things are more important than human spaceflight because we spend more money on them? Is space exploration less important?

Other ideas in space travel can be the use of anti-gravity technology to move to and from one place to the next within the world. Though this type of technology has not "officially" been released yet it will be interesting enough to see how it will be presented in the future. If this happens at all. For the most part space travel has been in the back of the minds of many science fiction fans and now it is turning into a more realistic and worthwhile reality.
