There are many public swimming options available in Nashville, Tennessee. There are supervisory and other restrictions for most facilities based on age, height and ability, so be sure to check the linked websites for details of each pool or park.

For a full-blown water park that includes a large public swimming and wave pool, check out Nashville Shores. Nashville Shores is open May through September. Anyone over 4 feet tall pays $30 for admission, anyone less than 4 feet tall pays $25, or a season pass is currently $60 for a limited time. Nashville Shores is open 10am to 6pm daily, later on weekends and select holiday dates.

Another much less expensive public swimming/wave pool alternative is Wave Country, Nashville's original wave pool. Wave Country opens on Memorial Day weekend and ends the season on Labor Day weekend. Adult tickets for anyone 12 years and up are $12 or $75-82, dependent on residency, for the season and tickets for children 12 years old and under are $10, $65 for a season pass. Wave Country's operating hours are 11-5 every day, earlier and later on weekend and holidays.

The Centennial Sportsplex Aquatics Center is an indoor public swimming facility that is open year round. You can buy a yearly membership or adults swim for $7 and children 12 and under, seniors, college students, military and the disabled swim for $6. If you are there only to supervise your swimming 48 inch or taller child, you pay just a $1 spectator fee.

Nashville.gov provides a helpful list of free public swimming pools and their schedules for regular swimming, as well as swimming lessons. Most of these free facilities will open in the middle of June, the week before Father's Day and will close either the first week of August or the first week of September.

Finally, there are YMCA locations all over Nashville and the surrounding areas. While you must pay a yearly membership fee as well as monthly membership dues, if you only want to go swimming one day, you can also download a free one time, one day pass to your local Y and go swimming while you are there to check out their facility. Otherwise, their membership fees start at $75/year + $62/month for one person, or is offered at a sliding scale for families who make less than $75,000 per year. You also may swim for free once per calendar year as the guest of another member.
