Many neighborhoods and communities in Phoenix have pools of their own where residents can cool off or catch a few minutes of exercise. Public swimming pools, however, are available for those who don't have access to such amenities or who prefer a more structured environment.
Some of the Phoenix public pools have specific residency requirements, but most are open to the public at large. Phoenix pools are closed Friday for maintenance, and open swim is generally restricted to certain hours so there is no interference with planned activities, such as swim lessons.
Deer Valley Pool
The Deer Valley Pool is part of one of the largest community complexes in Phoenix. It is located in Deer Valley Park, which also has a gymnasium, a weight room, and a recreation lounge. They also have soccer and softball fields.
The pool itself is equipped with a water slide, and there are lockers available in which to store your belongings while you use the facility. If you or your children are interested in exercise or competition programs, you can sign up for swim lessons or join the Deer Valley swim team.
Coronado Pool
A drop slide and five lap lanes make Coronado pool an excellent cooling-off destination for kids and adults alike. They have structured lap swim for those who are looking for a little exercise without the sweat, and a water basketball program.
Swim lessons are available throughout the hot summer Phoenix months, and lifeguard training is available for people of all ages. Junior lifeguard lessons are particularly popular among tweens and young teens. Take advantage of Itty Bitty Beach Parties for the little ones, or simply come for open swim.
Falcon Pool
Swim team, dive team, and water basketball are just a few activities you'll find at the Falcon Public Pool in Phoenix. Discount swim lessons are available for those who qualify, and there are lots of nearby restaurants if you get hungry after a day at the pool. Take advantage of water aerobics, open swim, and lap swim if you prefer an hour or so of intense exercise.
Mountain View Pool
The Mountain View Public Pool in Phoenix is part of a large community center featuring racquetball courts, a fitness center, an indoor theater, and a teen center. The game room boasts such amenities as an Xbox 360, a Wii, and board games.
The Mountain View Pool is an outdoor oasis open in June and July. They have a diving board, lap lanes, and a beautiful view to enjoy while you cool off from the hot Phoenix summer.
