Some contestants chose wonderful songs to perform; others chose songs that were not well known to the audience (on a side note, surprising to me was the fact that no contestant chose to perform the hit "Rock Wit' You"). Puerto Rican native Jorge Nunez, however, chose to perform the Jackson 5 hit, "Never Can Say Goodbye."
The judges were actually not a fan of Nunez's performance, criticizing the singer for choosing the wrong song, and out of 30 million votes cast after Tuesday night's performance, it turns out that Jorge Nunez had the least number of votes out of the 13 contestants. But wait-all was not lost for the Spanish-speaking crooner.
Now, is it just me or is it really difficult to keep up with all the new rules of this season's American Idol? First, there was the rule about the Wild Card contestants. Then last week, the judges informed fan favorite Anoop Desai that he would be a part of the Top 13 (instead of the normal Top 12) contestants. Now this past week, host Ryan Seacrest reminded viewers that Idol had yet another new rule in Season 8: the judges had a chance-only one chance during the entire season-to save the contestant that had the lowest number of votes during any given week.
So did the judges use their one saving opportunity to rescue contestant Jorge Nunez from elimination from the competition? As the infamous Simon Cowell so eloquently put it, "Uh, no."

Post a CommentI hated to seee him go, now the Rockin Robin chick, ewwwwww! Also Jasmine, I liked them both a lot better than the Rockin Robin one.
Hi Sharetha, Jorge's performance wasn't the best one of the night for me, but I would was surprised to see him voted off. He could of broke off into a course of the song in Spanish, and then come back again to English, and I think he would still be in the competition. I don't think there are any new rules against that?
