This is an improvised version of the most popular Indian Appetizer Samosa. When made using this recipe you can prepare it days in advance with just the baking part to be done 30 minutes before your guests arrive.

Ingredients

Serves 6
1 pack of 2 sheets Pepperidge farm Puff Pastry sheet
2 Big Potato
3 cloves Garlic
1/2 tsp Amchur or Mango Powder
1/2 tsp Garam Masala
1/2 tsp Chilli Powder optional
few Coriander Leaves
to taste Salt
1 Egg optional
2 tbs Water for making egg wash

Directions for Puff Pastry Samosa

Prepare Potato filling
Boil potatoes till tender, peel and cool it. Mash potatoes. Add chopped garlic, mango powder, coriander leaves, Garam Masala, Chilli powder and salt. Taste the mixture. Do the needful if you feel something is missing.

Meanwhile thaw the pastry sheet based on the package instructions or leave it in refrigerator overnight. Take out from the pack and see if it is completely thawed and workable. The check is that it should not crack when you open the sheet

Lightly flour a cutting board. Lay the sheet on the cutting board. Using a bowl mark circles on the sheet. Using paring knife cut out the circles. Take the remaining sheet and make a ball and using rolling pin and cut circle again.

Cut the circle in half. Take one tablespoon of potato mixture and put in the center. Hold the right corner and bring it to the left corner. Resulting shape will be that of a triangle. Seal the edges with egg wash, which is one egg and a tablespoon of water well mixed. If you do not eat egg then water can also be used.

Preheat oven at 400 deg F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper, put the Samosas at even distance from each other.

Bake for 15 minutes, turn the Samosas and bake until golden brown about 10 or 15 minutes more.

Serve warm with ketchup or chutney of your choice.
Tip
One packet of Pepperridge Farm Pastry sheet makes 12 Samosas if you use 10 ounce Corelle dessert bowl to make circle.Pastry Sheet Samosas can be prepared in advance, fill the sheets and make samosas and freeze them up to two weeks. Thaw them before baking.Amchur or Mango Powder and Garam Masala are easily available in all Indian Grocery stores.
