Puffy Eyes in the Morning?

Reduce the Puffiness of Your Eyes in the Morning

Your eyelids are very delicate and sensitive, so they easily become irritated. Puffy eyes in the morning are caused by fluids gathering underneath the eyelid and can make it harder to see, or just make you feel very uncomfortable. The fluids do drain eventually throughout the day, but these simple tips are for reducing the puff straight away.

All of these tips use cool objects you leave in the fridge, the coolness will soothe your eyes. Remember to elevate your head if you have puffy eyes, this will slowly help drain away the fluids.

Spoons: Keep two spoons in the fridge, and if your eyes are puffy hold the curved bit of the spoon over your eyes, applying a little bit of pressure. It will help your eyes cool down and reduce the puffiness.

Tea bags: Leave two used tea bags in the fridge overnight. When your eyes are puffy, place them over your eyes. The caffeine will help your eyes, and so will the coolness.

Eye creams: If you wear an eye cream at night, make sure you're only using a thin layer. Pop your eye cream in the fridge overnight and in the morning apply it. It will be cooling to your eyes, reducing any puffiness.

Witch Hazel: You can just as easily use water with this one, but witch hazel has benefits. Use some cool witch hazel that has been left in the fridge, or icy water, and soak two cotton pads. Place them over your eyes to cool down and reduce redness and swelling.

Gel Eye Mask: I'm a huge fan of gel eye masks, all you need to do is leave them in your fridge and place them over your eyes to reduce any swelling. You can buy them from most stores, and they cost under $10. They're also great for people in a rush in the morning, because you can slip it over your eyes and continue to get ready.

Cream Made for Puffy Eyes: Now there are creams that are made for puffy eyes in the morning such as Clarins Beauty Flash Eye Balm and Benefit The Sisters Ford De-Puffing Action Eye gel. Perfect if you can't be bothered waiting or applying anything over your eyes, but they can be expensive.

It's best not to rub or touch your eyes at night, because this is when the fluids build up. Staying well hydrated and going to sleep at the right time also helps. If you're eating a lot of salty food, you should limit your sodium intake, because sodium helps retain fluids. Make that your puffy eyes are not caused by allergies, if they are very severe, see the doctor.

I hope this helps, good luck!
