Pulled Muscles During Pregnancy

During pregnancy a woman's body goes through many changes and strains. All of these can really add up and can be even more worrisome for those who have pulled muscles during pregnancy. Luckily there are remedies and tips pregnant women can follow to get relief for their pulled muscles. Here is a look at some of those tips including some new ways.

While it was frowned on before pregnant women, especially pregnant women with pulled muscles, are now encouraged to get a massage to help get relief for their pulled muscles. There are specially skilled massage therapists as well as licensed chiropractors who specialize in massages for pregnant women. For those pregnant women who suffer from pulled muscles they should look in their local yellow pages for a massage therapist or chiropractor. Prices will vary and in some cases some insurances will cover the cost.
For those who cannot afford to pay to go to a massage therapist or see a chiropractor they should look into books that specialize in massage techniques just for pregnant women. These books have great tips and many women can have their partner or a friend practice them on them to help with their pulled muscles. New and recent studies have shown that pregnant women who get a massage during pregnancy not only get relief for their pulled muscles but it also helps them relax and can greatly help them as they prepare for delivery.

In addition to getting a massage some pregnant women find relief for their pulled muscles by using a heating pad. Heating pads can be bought at most drug stores and are fairly inexpensive. It is important to note though they should never be used near water, around small children and women should avoid setting them on the highest setting as too much heat can be dangerous. Other natural remedies include taking warm baths and using special belly wraps made just for pregnant women to provide extra support. These special belly bands can be found at many maternity stores and online.

While there are some natural herbal oils it is not recommended for pregnant women to try them. If the pulled muscles get too bad it is always suggested that you talk to your doctor in case they think you should take a medication to help relieve the pain.
