If you have a baby that was born in the fall, a pumpkin birthday party theme is an adorable way to celebrate. Pumpkins make a great birthday party theme for a baby or toddler with their bright colors and infinite decorating and food possibilities. A pumpkin birthday party theme also works great for boys or girls. If you have a baby born in October considering throwing a pumpkin themed birthday party with these tips.

The Decorations. A first step to creating a pumpkin birthday party theme is to decide on the decorations. Of course, fresh pumpkins are the perfect place to start when decorating for this special birthday party. Try spray painting some of the pumpkins different colors to add punches of other colors among the orange. Look for tiny ornamental pumpkins (which are really gourds) as well as larger traditional carving pumpkins. Check craft supply stores and large retailers for pumpkin items ranging from confetti to table centerpieces. Pumpkin decorations will not be hard to find in the fall for a pumpkin themed birthday party.

The Food. Of course the food at a pumpkin themed birthday party has to involve pumpkin! Try making a delicious, savory pumpkin soup. Roasted pumpkin seeds in small bowls make a great snack to have set throughout the party area. And of course pumpkin lends itself perfectly to sweets with everything from pumpkin bars to pumpkin cheesecake. You can also add other orange foods to the menu that will simply fit in with the color scheme. An orange fruit tray made up of orange segments, cantaloupe, and papaya would fit right in with the orange pumpkin colors as would an orange fluff salad and sweet potato dishes.

The Cake. The decorated birthday cake can be unique and beautiful for a pumpkin themed birthday party, but you won't need any special cake decorating skills to create it. Try making a three-dimensional pumpkin cake using two bundt pans (directions for how to create a pumpkin cake are found here). Once you have made the cake simply add a paper party hat and some colored edible confetti or sprinkles to the cake. This instantly turns a typical pumpkin cake into a birthday party pumpkin cake.

A pumpkin birthday party theme can be an adorable birthday party theme for a baby or toddler born in October. Use these ideas for planning your own unique pumpkin themed birthday party.
