Celebrate Halloween with these easy, fun, and festive crafts.
Construction Paper Square Pumpkin
Cut or tear orange construction paper into small squares. Have your toddler glue the squares to a printed pumpkin template until it is completely covered. Add a few pieces of green construction paper for a stem.
Pumpkin Sewing Activity
Cut a pumpkin shape out of lightweight cardboard, such as an empty cereal box. Using a hole puncher, punch holes evenly around the outer edge of the pumpkin shape. Pick a starting point, and thread an orange shoelace or orange piece of yarn (use tape on the end to keep it from unraveling) from underneath the cardboard pumpkin shape. On the backside, tie a large knot in or tape the end of the shoelace or yarn to keep it attached to the pumpkin. Your toddler can practice his or her fine motor skills by threading the yarn through the holes.
Balloon Jack O'Lantern
Inflate an orange balloon. Cut out jack o'lantern features from black construction paper and let your toddler glue them onto the balloon. Uninflated and popped balloons can be a choking hazard, so supervise your toddler closely during this craft.
Pumpkin Mask
Have your toddler paint a paper plate orange. Cut triangle shapes for eyes and a mouth out of the paper plate. Use a hole puncher and yarn to create a mask out of the paper plate.
Pumpkin Sun Catcher
Spread squares of orange tissue around on a sheet of wax paper. Add a few green squares near the top for a stem. Cover with another sheet of wax paper, then cover the whole thing with a towel. Go over it with a hot iron several times. Once cool, cut out a pumpkin shape.
Pumpkin Crisped Rice Treats
Make crisped rice treats by melting butter and marshmallows over low heat on the stove. Add in a few drops of red and yellow food coloring to give it an orange tint. Stir in the crisped rice cereal until it is evenly coated. Spray an ice cream scoop with non stick cooking spray, and use it to make dome shaped treats. Have your toddler give the treats jack o'lantern features by sticking raisins or cut black licorice on for features.
Pumpkin Puff Ball
Cut out a small rectangular piece of lightweight cardboard. Wind orange yarn around the cardboard piece over and over in one direction until it is covered. Carefully slide the yarn off the cardboard and tie the end of the yarn around the loop tightly, so it is secure. Using scissors, cut both looped ends so that the yarn fans out. Fluff the cut ends until you have a round pumpkin shape. Have your toddler glue on plastic googly eyes or black construction paper jack o'lantern features.
