1. Mapleside Apple Farm, 294 Pearl Road, Brunswick, OH 44212, Telephone: 330.225.5577
Mapleside Apple Farms is my number one choice for fall activities for a child that allows your child to go to the pumpkin patch and pick your own pumpkins. There are hayrides, corn mazes and so on. My only complaint would be that everything costs per person. Nothing is for free, so it will cost a good amount of money if your child wants to do anything. But, if you want to teach your children about fall harvest while having some fun, this is the farm to be this season. Depending on the event that you want to attend, you need to double check the farm website for more details and operating hours. On average though, the farm is open on Tuesday through Thursday from 9:00- 8:00 pm; Friday and Saturday from 9:00-7:00 pm; and Sunday from 9:00 - 7:00 pm.
This is actually where we have purchased our pumpkins each year since we moved to Cleveland, Ohio. Per a medium to large sized pumpkin, each one has cost $2.99 for the last three years. Make sure to double check the bottom of each pumpkin though since some are priced differently in permanent black marker. During the weekend hours, there are various types of activities for children to enjoy. Since it is not technically a farm, but rather indoors, it can get a little louder than some would prefer on the weekends. There are eight different locations, so please double check the website or call ahead before going to the location nearest you.
3. Patterson's Apple Farm, 11414 Caves Road Chesterland, Ohio 44026, Telephone: 440.729.1964
This farm market is open all year around however does spark more of an interest during the harvest months, especially fall. During the daytime, visitors are able to paint pumpkins and other small children activities. Unfortunately, when we went, there were not any pick your own options for pumpkins. The farmers market does have a nice bakery though. Unfortunately for us, there were no vegan options. If you have a little extra time, I suggest planning at least an hour to enjoy the valley view and walk the path behind the market. Call ahead for hours open since it varies.
