Pumpkin Hill Creek Preserve State Park

Pumpkin Hill Creek Preserve State Park is home to one of Jacksonville, Florida's largest areas of remaining coastal uplands in the state. The coastal uplands of the park help to protect the water quality of the St. Johns and the Nassau River, while maintaining the pristine aquatic habitat that is home to many endangered plants and animals.

Whether you're riding on the trail on a bike, horse or by foot, or you ply the open waters of the park by kayak, you're sure to see some of north Florida's most amazing wildlife at Pumpkin Hill Creek Preserve State Park.

The park is part of the seven Florida state parks that comprise the Talbot Islands State Park System and is free to enter. One of the best ways to see the park is by canoe or kayak. A primitive launch area is set back from the parking area 500 feet, so expect to lug all your gear a bit.

Fishing at Pumpkin Hill Creek Preserve State Park is great and can be done from canoe or kayak or from the shore line. Several trails also lead to access to the water. Flounder, redfish and sea trout are abundant in these waters and can easily be caught by boat or from the three access points in the park. A Florida fishing license is required for anglers 16 and up.

But if water activities aren't your favorite outdoor activity, don't worry. There's plenty other outdoor adventures at Pumpkin Hill Creek Preserve State Park. Hiking is fantastic at the park and several trail marked with colored blazes let hikers know how long of a distance the trail is. From a short half mile to over three, you and your family will love exploring this unique north Florida habitat. Don't forget the water and insect repellant.

From the parking lot, off-road bicyclists and equestrian enthusiasts will find over five miles of trails that offer guests a glimpse at what makes up Pumpkin Hill Creek Preserve State Park. From its backwater estuaries to its upland forests, the well marked trails are sure to please any mobile nature lovers.

Well behaved pets are welcome at Pumpkin Hill Creek Preserve State Park and must be contained on a leash no longer than six feet in length. So load up the dogs and enjoy a stroll with your best friend.
