Pumpkin Patches Around Boulder County Colorado

What could be more fun in fall than to go pick out your own Halloween pumpkin straight from the field. You can choose from literally hundreds of pumpkins and the farmer gets to sell directly to the public. Many farmers will also have Fall Festivals that have corn mazes, petting zoos, and other activities. What a great way to spend a cool fall afternoon together. Gather up the clan and go pick a pumpkin in a your local patch. Several patches have closed in recent years so this list is updated for 2010.

Anderson Farms will again host its annual Fall Festival this year. While they will not be holding the "Terror in the Corn" event this year, there will be plenty of kid friendly activities on site. Fall Festival will again include a hayride to the Pumpkin Patch with a stop at Animal Acres. New for 2009 will be nighttime hayrides and a Sudoko Corn Maze. Kids can also enjoy Mine Car rides, Barrel Train rides, Pony rides, a Bounce House, face painting, gem mining, a corn maze, and the Kiddie Korral Playground. On weekends you can watch the Pumpkin Launcher in action.

Cottonwood Farm hosts its annual Fall Halloween Festival in 2010. Come pick out your pumpkin in their large patch. Kids can explore farm equipment, farm animals, a straw bale maze, and a cornfield maze. Wagon rides are available for $3.

Miller Farms will once again have its Fall Festival at its farm in 2010! Come pick out your pumpkin and then enjoy the kid friendly activities. Activities include a petting zoo, a giant jumping balloon, a corn maze, a fire truck to explore, and a hayride out to the vegetable fields. You can even pick your own vegetables. Bring your own picnic and you can utilize one of their many covered tables. They will also have snacks and drinks available for purchase.

Osborn Farm is continuing its 30-year tradition of planting a pumpkin patch. Kids can grab a wheelbarrow and head out to the patch to pick out a pumpkin. They can also pick out gourds, Indian corn and more. If you come on one of their Market Days, there will be music, craft vendors, and hayrides.

Rock Creek Farm U-Pick-em Pumpkin Patch

Look for the giant inflatable pumpkin on Hwy 287 just north of Broomfield. Then grab some pruning shears at the gate and follow the signs to the open pumpkin fields in your car. Park your car and then go find a field pumpkin still attached to the vine. Once you have the pumpkin, you can go visit the corn maze and farm animals. Return to the front of the farm to pay. There are also straw bales, corn stalks, gourds, Indian corn, and baked goods available for purchase.

The RMPR is a USDA Certified Organic farm. Come pick an organic pumpkin straight out of their pumpkin patch. They have Radio Flyer wagons that you can take to the patch and haul back the pumpkin and the kids in. Their weekend Fall Festival activities include: a corn maze, a hay bale maze, farm animal feeding Petting Zoo, an obstacle course, pumpkin painting, and a honey bee observatory. While you are there you can purchase organic produce, honey products, fruit juices, ciders, and canned goods.
