Pumpkin Spice Latte Recipe

Quick and Easy Pumpkin Drink Recipe and a Great Hot Chocolate Substitute Option!

Carrie Rasmussen
Thank goodness fall is finally here and I can start making my Pumpkin Spice Latte's again! My favorite thing about this recipe (other than that it's quick and easy) is that it does not require an espresso machine! This delicious hot pumpkin drink tastes just as good if not better than the Pumpkin Spice Latte's you will find at your local coffee shops. It is homemade and is ready in the amount of time it takes to brew a pot of your favorite coffee! Also, below I describe how to make this into a fun drink for the kids when you're looking for a break from Hot Chocolate.

You will need:

1 Small Saucepan
½ c. Half and Half
1 heaping tablespoon of canned pumpkin
1 Tbsp. sugar
½ tsp. Pumpkin Pie Spice

An espresso machine is not necessary. Brew half a pot of water with enough coffee grounds for a whole pot, the result is some pretty strong delicious coffee. You don't need a special kind, just whatever you use every day. This recipe is also just as good if you are making a Decaffeinated Pumpkin Spice Latte. Same thing, half a pot of water with enough decaffeinated grounds for a whole pot. Start brewing!

While the coffee is brewing, warm the cream, canned pumpkin, sugar, and pumpkin spice in a small saucepan over the stove at medium high heat. Whisk constantly for 2-3 minutes and make sure all of the pumpkin has dissolved.

Continue whisking because the more you whisk, the frothier the drink. If you want your drink to be super frothy you can always throw the mixture into a blender and whip it up for a minute. I am a low maintenance kind of gal, so the frothiness really isn't that important to me. I am in it for the flavor!

Finally, fill your favorite mug halfway with the mixture from the saucepan and pour your freshly brewed coffee on top and voila...The perfect homemade Pumpkin Spice Latte! This is a delicious hot pumpkin drink that everyone will love.

Don't forget! This pumpkin drink recipe also tastes amazing on ice!

For the kids:

Double the recipe, change the half and half to whole milk, and forget about the coffee. Now you have a great new drink for the kids' snow days! Instead of serving hot chocolate all winter, this delicious pumpkin drink is a great substitute.
