Dying Your Hair a Punky Color

The first step in achieving the perfect look for your personal statement is to do as much research as you can. Searching for images on the internet is one way to do so. The sites I have found to be of the most use are Amphigory.com and ManicPanic.com.

Be open to other options, and try not to blindly select the color you had originally thought about choosing. There have been times that I have had my heart set on the girliest bubble-gum-pink, but in my search found an even more vibrant and attractive shade of orange, so, again, exploration is very important.

So, you've already gotten an idea of what look you want to get, and have sifted through endless websites. What do you do next?
An important thing to know in this situation is that every brand differs in quality, consistency, and formula, so choosing the right brand for you can be a bit of an adventure. Thankfully, with the ability to research on the internet, the headache of choosing the right formula is reduced.

Jerome Russell Punky Colors (JeromeRussell.com) - A pretty edgy hair-care line, featuring permanent as well as semi-permanent colors. The more "punky" hues come in little pots and the formula is reminescent of Manic Panic creme. You can achieve deep, true-to-label color, but it takes a lot of patience, and multiple applications. Overall I give this product a 3 out of 5.

Manic Panic (ManicPanic.com) - You can't deny the popularity of Manic Panic, what with it being carried in every edgy boutique in the universe, so chances are, you have heard of it. It comes in two different formulas, normal, and amplified, and both stain your skin and countertops more than they do your hair, so multiple applications are required to achieve the deepest colors. This product gets a 3.

Special Effects (SpecialEffectsUSA.com) - Hands down my top favorite brand for hair color. This stuff is so amazing, you will never use another brand again. The formula is 100% vegan, so it doesn't contain any harsh chemicals that will burn your scalp. It is vegetable based, so in fact, it leaves your hair feeling better than it did before you colored it. Ive dyed my hair practically every color Special Effects offers, and none of them really fade. It is a little pricier than the other two brands I mentioned, but far worth it in the end. A four ounce bottle usually costs between nine and twelve dollars. This product gets a great big 5. I highly reccomend it!
