Punxsutawney Phil and Mr. Obama

Both Will Enchant Us on the Same Day

Bubba
Like him or not Mr Obama is the President of the USA. On Feb 2nd he will deliver his opinions of the State of the Union. It is also Groundhog Day. Depending on your Belief System you will either accept the weather predictions of both or neither. Mr Obama and Punxsutawney Phil will both attempt to sway your opinion.

I recently heard a man speak he proclaims in all problems the solution is within the problem. High unemployment means the is a pool of craftsman ready to begin work in a new business venture. Poor economic climate means the movers and shakers have incentive to build an economic climate to shape their desires. Mr Obama knows this but he thinks it is his secret weapon for the next election, Punxsutawney Phil also knows this truth but feels no Ground Hog can replace him

Mr Obama is a prime example of this. Obama and his mentors saw the problems and honestly thought they could turn them around. They did try to blame the Bush administration but we all know that was just more political hot air. Too bad they could just take personal responsibility for their part and move on. Punxsutawney Phil does every year!

I think I see the beginning of a great step forward in this nation. I think Mr Obama is trying to take responsibility for it. I see small business men and women writing business plans, looking for start up investors, in general putting their best foot forward to begin a new economic life. Mr Obama could go to school and listen to a few restaurant folks.

I celebrated 26 years in a small restaurant. We employed between 50-100 folks depending on the season. Every one before Mr Obama began his political journey. I knew every special day that could bring me a new customer. I studied the local folks and made a good living pleasing folks appetite and desires. Are you listening Mr Obama? Punxsutawney Phil and his followers have learned this years ago.

My biggest secret was 2 fold. !st everything must be consistent. 2nd most folks won't remember what they ate a week later... they will remember if they were happy and joyous when they left my restaurant. Think politics for a min. Do you remember details of the Bush administration ?.. Be honest you only remember how you felt when you voted for Mr Obama and a change is in the wind. Do you remember what Punxsutawney Phil's prediction was last year? Did you celebrate when Spring arrived and Punxsutawney Phil's prediction was wrong? Will Mr Obama's Predictions in the State of the Union be right, wrong, or perhaps somewhere in the middle?

We must respect the office of President of the USA. We must keep and open mind to Mr Obama's and Punxsutawney Phil's ideas. Herbert Spencer hit the nail on the head when he said: "There is a principle which is a bar against all information, which is proof against all arguments and which can not fail to keep a man in everlasting ignorance-that principle is contempt prior to investigation."

Oh, and the food is great, too!

So glad to see you back. Now I know why you're such a good cook. You're so right about the way you feel in a restaurant. We don't have a lot of choice around here, but I love going to a really good Mexican restaurant here where the young owners do it all. I once told them I wanted a hamburger (joking, of course) and now they always have something to say to me, like, whispered, "Today we have only Mexican food." Or, "Do you want fries with that?" They're so cute and nice.

Good to see an article from you! You are right, I may not recall what I ate but I certainly do remember a very good restaurant.
