Pup Corn Healthy Dog Treats Review

Annie Jean Brewer
I have a very spoiled pooch; in my search for a new treat I encountered the Pup Corn Peanut Butter Flavored Healthy Dog treats. Low in fat, calories and sodium, these treats are 100% produced and sourced in the United States, which made this consumer want to at least give them a try.

I brought a bag home and gave them to my dog. She ate the first one fine, as well as the second and third ones, but by the second day she would take them from me, lay them on the floor and look at me as if I had lost my mind.

Thinking that she was bored of them, I put them away for a few days and then brought them back out. This time she refused to even take them from my hand!

I mentioned them to my sister and discovered that she had recently purchased a bag of these but in a different flavor. She said she had to toss the whole bag because her pups refused to eat them either.

While the idea of a healthy, low fat and economical dog treat is a wonderful thing, it is worthless if the dogs won't eat it. I won't be purchasing these again, and seriously don't advise pet owners to waste their money on this product. While I don't know how it tastes personally, I know of several dogs now who refuse to eat this stuff, and that is proof enough for me.

My 2 y/o beagle, Lucky was told by the vet that she was starting to get a little chunky. Some other owners in the local beagle club informed me to try Pupcorn-- the breed naturally has weight problems and they'd found the pupcorn to work well at lowering and maintaining a healthy weight. I purchased a big tub of the peanut butter flavor for about $6 at petsmart-- and she absolutely loves it. She doesnt even seem to miss the beggin' strips, milk bones, and snausages. I've heard some complaints that the ingredients arent all that nutritiously healthy (apart from the low cal/low fat) but when looking at the list of ingredients of all the other dog treats out there, they definitely arent even close to the bottom of the barrel; we take in more unnatural ingredients in a snickers bar or a soda than are in pupcorn. You can also give your dog 13 of these pupcorns and it still doesnt equal the calories or fat in one medium sized milkbone (and my beagle is fine with a single treat after doing her business and occasionally throughout the day after tricks etc).
I think they sell the stuff in smaller bags as well, I'd recommend giving them a try and seeing if your dog likes them or not-- pretty much all beagle owners I've run into use them and the dogs love them.

Hi, I own 2 Shichons (Shihtzu Bichon mixes) and they love these snacks as do all my relatives dachsund dogs. They actually go crazy for them. Maybe the company changed something recently? We usually buy the cheese flavor.
