Puppet "The Psycho Dwarf" Talks About "Half-Pint Brawlers" on Spike TV

Calling "Brawlers" a Midget Variety Show, Puppet Isn't Afraid of Big Controversy

In some social circles, the term "midget" often is treated as an offensive word, but Puppet, the "Psycho Dwarf" and owner of his own hardcore, midget wrestling company, sees nothing wrong with using the "M-word." "I am small, so big deal," Puppet told Associated Content via telephone.

"We're not trying to be politically correct because I use the word midget and I get a lot of controversy about that. Midget is just a term that describes something small. Nobody is going to come out and watch 'little people' wrestling, but when I advertise the hardcore midget wrestling, they know exactly what they are getting," he said.

Puppet brings "Half Pint Brawlers" to Spike TV on June 2

Puppet said the concept of hardcore midget wrestling has been around for about 15 years, and it has been growing through the years. On June 2, "Half Pint Brawlers," an unscripted series about Puppet and his crew, debuts on Spike TV. "A good way to talk about the 'Half Pint Brawlers' is hardcore midget wrestling meets 'Jackass' meets 'Little People, Big World" meets Ozzy Osbourne meets 'Girls Gone Wild'-all in one," Puppet said.

"Spike TV got the opportunity to follow us out on the road and see our crazy antics, and what we are doing. I am always playing pranks on the little guys, doing things to keep them on their toes. We're like a family that travels on the road, but we just happen to be a hardcore midget wrestling company," he said. "We do all kinds of crazy stunts. My little gimmick is that I always carry a staple gun with me. I always say that midgets are like strippers-if you give us $1 bills, we'll staple them all over each other's bodies for your long-legged pleasure."

"We fall farther because we are midgets..."

Puppet said that his best wrestlers, Little Kato and "Beautiful Bobby" Dean, are the sons of Lord Littlebrook, one of the originators of midget wrestling for World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). "We do everything the big guys do-we do the hardcore style. We use a normal-sized ring, so these midgets come off the top rope. I always say we do everything the WWE does, but we fall farther because we are midgets. It's a blast and a good time," he said.

"Half Pint Brawlers " is like "Little People, Big World"...with beer.

"Little People, Big World," a popular show on TLC, follows two little people and their family as they try to fit into a regular-sized world. "This show ('Half Pint Brawlers') is 'Little People, Big World' with beer," Puppet said. "Lots of beer, lots of fun and lots of laughter and lots of drama. We had a serious injury on one of the shows, so you get to see Kato dealing with a really bad cut (he went through a table)".

"I'm not knocking any of the other midget shows, but I notice that on the other shows, they are always trying to belong to society and trying to make people understand that 'Hey, we are like everyone else.' 'For 'Half Pint Brawlers'-we want to live outside the line,'" he said.

Turtle is the rookie on Season 1 of "Half Pint Brawlers"

For Season 1 of the show, Puppet said they had a rookie who used the name Turtle. "You get to see what he had to go through just to become a Half Pint Brawler. You just can't be a midget and come on to my company and be a Brawler. You have to train, you have to be physical, you have to be an athlete," he said.

As is the case with any sport, though, not everyone is going to be able to wrestle. "He (Turtle) would get hurt in the ring, but we found a role for him because we aren't just a wrestling show. He could do the Jackass stunts, the crazy antics. He's great on the microphone-I tried to teach him a little bit of everything. Also, I got him working in the office. I found out he was a telemarketer, so he's out there doing sales for me," Puppet said.

Puppet ready for the "Half Pint Brawlers" controversy

Calling "Half Pint Brawlers" a midget variety show, Puppet said the show is going to get a lot of controversy, but he's ready for it. "A lot of people are going to be laughing at the same time and having a good time with it. With our show, you are seeing how much fun we are having. Everywhere we go, there might be people coming out to see us just to get mad at us."

"Half Pint Brawlers" starts a 6-episode run on Spike TV beginning June 2 at 11 p.m. ET/PT.
