It's another way to show love for the pets that keep us happy, lick our tears during heartbreak and provide comfort when we are frightened. They are our first true friend from childhood and the one we still remember fondly and shed a tear for as adults. Pets are almost like children and the love they bring to our hearts.
So celebrate with a pet this Valentine's Day. If you don't have a pet the Humane Society has many to choose from. They are well cared for, checked for health issues and many have come from home owners no longer able to care for them. Many have been abandoned on the streets to fend for themselves and would love a warm home, a good friend and just a small spot to sleep.
Make the day special for you and your pet by starting off cuddling in front of a good movie, a great breakfast and chatter. Tell your pet how much you love him or her and just pet them. When the movie ends clap you hands and laugh together. The fun is just beginning.
Now it's time to exercise with your pet. You can do this by running from room to room with your pet chasing after you and you chasing it. Be careful not to trip on your pet and if it's small don't step on it. Pets love to play and have all the attention they can get from you.
Now for grooming. Take a shower, put on your best outfit for the day and brush your pet until it's coat shines. When you are finished rub him/her down with a dryer sheet for that clean, fresh air smell. Don't worry, it won't last long.
It's off to the local park to meet other pet owner. You can enjoy their company while your pet enjoys the company of their own species. Share Valentine's cookies especially for dogs and cookies for the masters who love them. Exchange cards for your pets with other owners and just have a good time.
If you would like to continue this special times make arrangements with a local living facility to bring in your dogs for the residence to pet and cuddle. You cannot place that special light in their eyes like you can with a few minutes of time holding a licking dog. They are companions to everyone and share love in a way we cannot to other humans. You will be sharing more than your pet when you let someone hold a little dog in their lap for just a few minutes.
As the evening closes hold your pet close and be thankful for this very special kind of love. It's easy, simple and does not require pay backs of any kind. It is love unconditional and will warm your memories in years to come.
