As rising fuel prices continue to take a chunk out of the American consumer's already strapped budget, more and more retailers are finding ways to lure in customers by offering savings at the pump.
Check out these discounts that promote purchases at one retailer by offering savings on gasoline:
Winn-Dixie
The Winn-Dixie grocery store chain has recently begun offering a Fuel Perks program. A major benefit of the Winn-Dixie program is that discounts are stackable, meaning you can actually reduce your fuel cost to free (up to 20 gallons) with the right purchase choices. Perks that add up to more than the per gallon price of the gasoline are rolled over for the next purchase. There is no refund for unused discounts or for fuel-ups that do not use the maximum 20 gallons per visit. In addition, the gas station may place a minimum per gallon purchase price that ranges from 2 cents to 11 cents per gallon.
The initial discount is 5 cents off per gallon with a $50 Winn-Dixie purchase, spend $100 and you have earned double rewards for 10 cents off per gallon. The store may also offer discounts for specific store purchase, so check the current sales circular. Not all purchases count towards the fuel discounts. Some exemptions include tobacco, lottery, certain prescription, and gift card purchases.
Most Winn-Dixie stores in the southeastern United States are members of the program, but you can confirm your store's involvement on the website as well as find participating gas stations.
Kroger
Kroger has long been offering its Kroger Plus members a 3% per gallon discount at Kroger-affiliated pumps. Recently some Shell gas stations have been added to the program. Purchase $100 in groceries at a Kroger store and the discount escalates to 10 cents per gallon. Fill two prescriptions and earn 10 cents off at the pump as well.
In the past, a per-fill-up discount cap of 10 cents per gallon has been placed on fuel purchases, with additional perks rolling over to the next visit. Recently, the company has begun expanding the program to allow customers to earn up to $1.00 off per gallon.
Kroger operates stores in various parts of the country, including the Southeast, Midwest, and Texas. Check the Kroger website for specific details of the program and to find a participating store near you.
Both the Winn-Dixie and Kroger programs enforce an expiration policy on the perks, so be sure and use any earned rewards before you lose them.
CVS Pharmacies
CVS has just announced a new fuel-saver program. Purchase $30 in designated weekly items and members of CVS ExtraCare program will receive a $10 gas card coupon. The coupon prints directly on the member's receipt once the $30 weekly purchase threshold has been reached. The coupon can then be redeemed for an actual gas card.
Only one coupon can be earned each week per ExtraCare member. Each week the member's card balance is reset, so purchases from the prior week do not roll over. The promotion is set to run from now until August 28, 2011.
Hotels & Motels
Knowing that rising fuel costs may cause some Americans to stay home this summer, a number of hotels and motels are offering fuel discounts to entice vacation travel. Check hotel websites, as well as those of local visitors' bureaus, frequently for offered specials.
A quick web search for fuel promotions resulted in finding these current programs:
The Naples Beach Hotel & Golf Club is offering fuel cards ranging from $10 to $50 for Florida residents who stay a minimum of three nights. The amount of the card is based on the distance Florida residents travel from their homes to the hotel. To sweeten the deal, the hotel is offering a pay for two nights, get the third night free promotion in addition to the free gas cards.
The Daytona Beach Area Convention & Visitors Bureau is offering a Fuel Your Vacation promotion with many of the Florida beach's area hotels participating. Gas rebates range from $10 to $50 or, in some cases, are a percentage of the hotel rate. Check the website for complete details.

Great!
I will have to check this out-CVS items are few, but may be useful
I know we participate in one of these stores with our local grocery store. Every little bit definitely helps.
Re, the CVS card promotion: In my area, the eligible products are identified ONLY in the paper mailers and NOT on the shelves where the items are.... a less than well intentioned offer, I fear.
