Pure Protein's New Big Wave Orange Extreme Fruit Bar - Product Review

JRS
With a full serving of fruit, Pure Protein's Extreme Fruit Bars are good source of calcium, fiber, protein, vitamins and minerals. Available in 3 different flavors, with 5 bars to a box at around $3. Out of Skateboard Grape, Big Wave Orange, and Radical Cherry I decided to go with the Big Wave Orange.
I picked up a box of Pure Protein's New Big Wave Orange Extreme Fruit Bar at Target. I had intended to get another box of Zone Perfect chocolate bars, but also wanted to see what else might be available. I spotted the 'kid-friendly' packaging on the top shelf above the other protein bars. The pictures on the boxes of Pure Protein's Extreme Fruit Bars looked really good and very different from the typical protein bar.
Never thought I'd say it, die hard chocoholic that I am, but I was getting pretty tired of everything being coated in chocolate! This was as good a time as ever to try something new. Sure, these Pure Protein fruit protein bars were made for kids; with their fruit flavors and fun characters and catchy names, but the bars looked delicious and the flavors definitely different than the typical protein snack bar. Pure Protein's high-quality protein and fruit bars in Skateboard Grape, Big Wave Orange, and Radical Cherry, all come individually wrapped in a 5 pack of 40g bars.

At first bite I wasn't too sure I'd enjoy the flavor. I tasted more of a honey taste rather than orange, but I loved the texture! The top of the Pure Protein's New Big Wave Orange Extreme Fruit Bar was the fruit coating, which was very soft and flavorful, almost the texture of preserves. Next you bite through to a chewy and crunchy layer, almost the texture of a Kellogg's Rice Crispy Treat bar. Lastly, you are hit with a very thin layer of smooth coating, the same as that squiggly line decorating the top of the orange protein bar. As you chew, the strong orange flavor ensues and you begin to enjoy the rich taste and texture. This bar requires a lot of chewing, and with its flavorful taste and mixture of both soft and crunchy textures, you can't help but savor this bar bite by bite as you eat it slowly.
I wanted another bar as soon as the first one was gone. I can't wait to go back and try one of the other bars in Skateboard Grape or Radical Cherry!
