Purity Organic Functional Drinks (Orange Mango Tangerine) Review

T. H. Pankey
I'm seeing more and more Purity organic products, even doing a review on Purity Organic Cranberries, found here. Having previously visited the Purity website for article research, I'd seen Purity Organic Functional Drinks, which certainly grabbed my attention. So it was with great delight I recently ran across them at Whole Foods in Union Square, NYC.

Functional Drinks? How?

We lose minerals from our bodies through water loss, especially while sweating during vigorous exertion and exercise. Minerals that are electrically charged are called electrolytes. Two such particular minerals are sodium and calcium, which are both found in Purity Organic Functional Drinks. Purity Organic Functional Drinks function in that they replenish sodium and calcium.

How Pure is Purity?

Purity Organic Functional Drinks contain 25% juice. So from that standpoint, they're not very pure; but unless you're juicing your own fruit drinks at home you'd be hard pressed to find on the market juice that's 100% juice.

What is pure about Purity Organic Functional Drinks is that the fruit used is organic. When the fruit were grown for these drinks--in this case, white grapes, oranges, lemons, mangoes and tangerines--they were grown from soil that isn't contaminated with pesticides, nor were the fruit themselves sprayed with pesticides.

Fruit drink makers will often use white grape juice as the main fruit juice in a drink, although advertising the drink as another kind of fruit drink. That's the case with Purity as well; white grape juice is the foremost fruit juice ingredient in this drink, although they advertise it only as an "Orange Mango Tangerine" drink.

How Do Them Functional Drinks Taste?

Purity's inserting the word "functional" is a misnomer, when going by how this drink tastes. It tastes really good! Though tangerine is listed last in this drink's ingredients, and in the form of organic oil, it's tinged with a terrific taste of tangerine.

The balance of flavors taste really good. The drink certainly was nice and sweet, but in such a way so as not to even notice its sweetness. Neither was Purity Organic Functional Drink ( Orange Mango Tangerine tart, even in the slightest sense. Of course, that's owing to the fact that none of the fruits used in this drink lend themselves to tartness.

Recommended or Not?

All in all, Purity blended the orange, mango and tangerine ( and white grape juice ) really well, so that it tastes really good. Purity also added sea salt and calcium to replenish lost electrolytes. While the drink is only 25% juice ( filtered water constitutes most of this drink ), the fruits that are used are organic.

I'd put Purity Organic Functional Drinks ( Orange Mango Tangerine ) up there with one of the best-tasting fruit drinks I've ever had, but besides that, based on the other advantages of this drink, I certainly recommend the Orange Mango Tangerine Purity Organic Functional Drink.
