Purple Bridesmaid's Dresses for 2011

Kimberly Schimmel
Is purple your favorite color? Why not choose purple for your bridesmaid's dresses? From delicate lavender and lilac to royal purple to deepest eggplant shades, purple comes in many variations. One is sure to be right for your wedding.

Bright Purple

If your bridesmaids all have strong coloring, consider a bright purple shade. Be advised, though, that these hues may overpower more delicate coloring. Show off your favorite color with purple or violet from the Alfred Angelo collection. Mary's Bridal also has its own version of purple or violet. The David's Bridal collection includes a brilliant royal purple hue they call "regency". Men's Wearhouse offers coordinating regency vests and neckties.

Deep Purple

Mary's Bridal has the best selection of deep purples; choose from amethyst, eggplant, or plum. David's Bridal offers lapis, a deep blue-violet. For the men, Men's Wearhouse has an abundance of deep purple accessories: Victorian lilac, lapis, plum, or raisin.

Just a Hint of Purple

For a light summer look, consider the lightest of purple tints. David's Bridal is on top when it comes to pale purples: consider lilac, iris, or wisteria. Mary's Bridal carries dresses in lavender or lilac. Victorian lilac from Alfred Angelo is another possibility. Men's Wearhouse coordinates include wild orchid, lilac, and wisteria.

Purple, once the color of wealth and royalty, can now be the color of celebration. Enjoy selecting the perfect purple for your bridesmaid's dresses.
