PURRsonals.com Dating Website for Cat Lovers Could Lead to a PURRfect Match

On Monday, it was announced by PURRsonals--a new dating Website committed to bringing cat lovers together-- that the organization's new website is the best place for cat lovers to come together and build relationships based on their mutual love of felines.

Founded by cat owners, PURRsonals.com allows people to create a free membership. Once a member fills out a short survey, they can network with one another based on their individual interests and preferences.

The dating Web site permits registered members to post multimedia files, such as pictures and videos, to help personalize their profiles and display their feline pets. Even "taken" cat lovers can still set up photobuckets to show their cats to everyone else.

Members can also manage their "encounters" and "flirts" to keep track of daily e-mail interactions, or join live chat online to have immediate contact with potential suitors. The option to create a blog lets members keep their interested viewers current on updates in their (and their kitties') lives.

"Only cat lovers truly understand the unique bond between owner and feline. So many people are scaredy cats when it comes to meeting others through a dating Web site. PURRsonals.com provides a welcoming, like-minded community, and we're excited to bring together a new group of cat lovers from around the world," said co-founder Joan.

Cats do inspire much passion in people-both in those who love cats and those for whom no love is lost between them and the felines. Many people have of course read mock online journals kept by "cats" in which the animals refer to their owners as "my human", and it has been opined by some that cats have a god-complex. These traits of seeming indifference cause some people to be put off by cats, preferring instead the friskiness and loyalty typically shown by that stereotypical opposite of the cat, the dog.

But most people, whether lovers or haters of cats, can't forget such beloved felines as the one and only Tigger, the Napolean of crime himself, Macavity the mystery cat, or Puss'n'Boots, newly of Shrek films fame.

Cat passions have inspired untold numbers of sayings and even proverbs centered around the domesticated feline.

The Irish say, "Beware of people who dislike cats", while the English say, "Curiosity killed the cat, and satisfaction brought it back."

Adding, perhaps, to the cats' god-complex is an inscription on the Egyptian Royal Tombs of Thebes which reads, "Thou art the Great Cat, the avenger of the Gods, and the judge of words, and the president of the sovereign chiefs and the governor of the holy Circle; thou art indeed...the Great Cat."

However, the French have a characteristically more irreverent take on the feline. "Cats, flies, and women are ever at their toilets".

But could the Orient have the most insightful cat proverb of them all? "I gave an order to a cat, and the cat gave it to its tail".
