Put Those Wine Bottles to Use for Interior Decorating

Recycle for Interior Design

I hate the idea of tossing a pretty wine bottle. If you are a wine connoisseur, you are like me. There has to be another way. Wine bottles come in all shapes, colors and sizes. Many individuals just toss them aside into the trash or have them recycled. Actually you can use wine bottles, both full and empty, for interior decorative ideas. This article will provide you with some ideas for putting those wine bottles to good use.

Wall Sconce or Lamp
You can very easily make these into the base of sconce or lamp. All you need is a lamp kit and a drill with a glass or ceramic bit. Make sure you clean the bottle and leave the label on it. Many labels are very attractive and are color coded for the bottle. For a wall sconce, you can substitute an old wooden or plastic sconce that has been used for a candle. For light bulbs, try different colored lights. You can get red, blue, yellow, orange or green. These are excellent on your deck and patio, too.

Oil Lamps
Add to that romantic setting with an oil lamp. You will need oil, a ceramic wick stopper, and a small glass protector. Select the right wine bottle color for the room you use. You want to coordinate the color of the room with the bottle color. These go great in any room, but are especially nice in a bedroom. To add to the atmosphere, get a scented oil.

Floral Arrangements
We have all seen wine bottles in baskets. You can use them in a floral decoration, too. Center the colored wine bottle in the flower vase or base. Place your Styrofoam around the base of the bottle and construct your arrangement from there. A small wicker basket makes a great starting base for your arrangement.

Cooking Oil Holder
Green wine bottles are excellent for olive oil. White wine bottles are good for vegetable oils. Just clean your bottles well and use a regular wine bottle stopper.

Candle Holders
Wine bottles have long been used as a candle stick holder. Let the wax from the candle cover and harden over the wine bottle. consider using different colored candles at times to add to this decorative idea.

Soap Holders
Clean out the bottle and add your favorite soap to it. Just place a small pump to the top. You can place these in the kitchen or bathroom.

Your friends and family members will be impressed with your own way of recycling wine bottles. These make excellent gifts to give at any time of the year. You might even consider developing these ideas into a small side business.

Remember all the creative stuff we did with bottles in the 70s? I think I've lost some of my creativity. Thanks for the reminder.
