Putin Won't Go Until You Elect Your Next President!

Having Seen Every Trick in the Book Since Kennedy, I Say So. And on the Day You Decide Who Your President Is, Putin Will Lose Interest

The advantage and disadvantage with my compatriots is that despite all their technological sophistication, they are suave and simple at heart.

They are willing to give every human being a fair chance even when their mind says you are lying.

No, it is not naivete. It is based on the principle of fairness this land was founded and didn't mind fighting for. It has been watered down a little bit lately, though.

It is that same American sense of fairness that is being misused or, shall I say, abused, when world leaders, home and abroad, co-operate and put up gory farces with the nonchalance of criminals.

And leaders of the world, who spew venom against each other in front of us, go inside banquet halls, pat themselves on the back and raising their vine glasses, say cheers - for having made us believe all that crap.

My heart always goes out to those killed ON BOTH SIDES
just for the political ambitions of a few, be it home or abroad.

Especially, as a person who witnessed from far off through the dusty storm a small black speck of a helpless human being jumping from the crumbling towers to the bosom of his/her motherland, this feeling is growing.

The fact that that falling speck was another American like I and courting death for no fault of his/her own froze me to a helpless standstill until a cop came and struck me back to consciousness:"You standing here? Are you crazy? You run for your life, maaan."

Now seeing crocodile tears being shed for killed Georgians by our leaders and for killed South Ossetians by Russian leaders, my question is why both of them waited until the cover provided for by a Chinese Olympics?

Skeptical? Then, read what happened before.

We Americans were spending sleepless nights praying for the safety of our diplomats in Teheran. They were held hostages there for months. The craziness of the Iranian ayotollahs was in its zenith.

Then, we heard with relief that Jimmy Carter was talking to the Iranians through intermediaries. Next, that happy news we all waited for was flashed. At last, the hotheads in Teheran agreed to release our diplomats. Our men and women would soon be free!

Unfortunately for our incarcerated diplomats, it was election year.

Nothing happened. Ayotollahs changed their minds. They went on with their theocratic rhetoric and our poor diplomats' suffering prolonged.

Election came and ended Carter's problem-ridden administration.

Ronald Reagan became president.

Presto, Iranian ayotollahs suddenly released our diplomats. Many argued they wanted to be friends with USA.

I was ashamed many weeks later, when it became known that "some Americans" had no shame and conscience in requesting Iranians to delay the release of suffering Americans until Carter left, so that Carter won't get credit for the release.

Financial failures had already doomed Carter's presidency. But some guys wanted an added insurance for his exit. For that, they would even go to the "Axis of Evil" for help!

Were our diplomats, whose sufferings in Teheran were unnecessarily prolonged for political gains and were treated as just pawns in a chess game, ever adequately compensated? I don't think so.

Patriotism should not be allowed to become the last refuge of scoundrels.

Yes, our sense of fairness, a national trait, should not be allowed to be misused or abused for selfish gains by a few, home or abroad.

Remember to use your franchise rights wisely. Those rights were built on the blood of countless, nameless people who suffered and fought for those rights but never lived to enjoy the fruits of their sacrifice.
