Putting Christ Back in Christmas...You Can Now Rest Easy

It's Finally Beginning to Look a Lot like Christmas, Again

Miss Faith
Apparently Wal-mart and some of the other retail chains have decided to stop being ignorant and change their ads from "Happy Holidays" back to "Merry Christmas". Even as a non-Christian, I release a sigh of relief and say "who cares". I don't understand why they changed it to begin with...I've always thought it was silly. I suppose what got them to change it back was when the American Family Association and the Catholic League began to boycott the retailers that had taken "Christ" out of Christmas. I guess it goes to show that when those silly far right Christians push at something they will eventually get it, especially when it involves money.

But they should be happy they got the retailers to reverse their advertising BEFORE the elections were over. Now that the house and senate are dominated by the "left", I think they would have had a harder time...or would they? Who knows. At any rate, everyone can breathe easy now that "Christ" has been put back into the Pagan generated holiday of Yule or Winter Solstice. One blog I had read on this subject had stated how Wal-mart could "go ahead and tell their customers 'Happy Pagan interlude' if they want to", since the conservatives have now lost power in Washington.

But let's focus on what this up coming holiday is to be about. Giving, loving, and time with family and friends. Personally I don't care how they advertise it, because it will still be Christmas. And yes, as a Wiccan I still say Christmas. It's just a word and nothing else. What matters is HOW you celebrate it, NOT how you say it. So look for the up and coming blogs that will be covering the various aspects of the season. This is my favorite time of the year and I am looking forward to spreading the joy of diversity with others!

Santa Claus, Reindeer that fly, Snowmen that Dance & come alive, these are the things that most families enjoy this time of year! Why must people take a Holiday so serious? Religion is a touchy subject, that I try to avoid during the Holiday season. Christmas is about love, and to love is not to judge. I wish everyone a Merry Christmas no matter what faith you are. Very nice article.

Karen - Thanks for reminding me about Jesus. Believe it or not, I went to church nearly 1/2 my life. I understand why Christians celebrate Christmas, but what about the other religions? I would like to think that Jesus would tell his followers to stop casting stones at those that believe other ways...especially taking into consideration that Christmas is mostly about gifts now, not "actual" praise to God.

Beloved, although the Christmas Holiday began rooted in paganism, we Christians take this day as a day to celebrate the birth of the savior, Jesus Christ, the Son of the Almighty God. Jesus is always the reason for the Season...so whether you say Happy Holidays or Merry Christmas...get to know who Jesus Christ is and how much He loves you. May God reveal Himself to you this Christmas Season.
