Putting Christ Back into Christmas

The Blonde Geek
Christmas has become in recent years, promotional, and it seems to me that people have forgotten that Christ our Lord is the real meaning behind Christmas. Christmas is not about the presents we receive, but the presence within us of Jesus Christ.

Instead of making these huge Christmas list of things that we desire, why not be different this year and make a list of things that you are grateful for and perhaps you can put the Christ, back in Christmas. You can put the Christ back in Christmas simply by sharing the blessings that you have with those less fortunate than you are.

No matter how much you may wish this Christmas for the Xbox or stereo that you want, think of all the unfortunate souls, who will go without a single Christmas gift this year. It is not selfish to want nice things in life, but it is very selfish not to think of those people even less fortunate than we are.

When you sit down to your huge Christmas dinner with ham, real mashed potatoes, and all the other trimmings with your family, please know there's someone just on the street from you, who is alone on Christmas. They may not be alone by choice, but the fact remains they are alone, go ahead and invite them if you can, or take them the plate of Christmas cheer.

Visit your local nursing home, hospital, or veterans Hospital, and spread some Christmas cheer simply a sitting in talking to some of the residents or getting your family to create some small blankets, that will cover the laps and legs of the older people who get cold so easily. There are plenty of ways to spread Christmas cheer within a nursing home or a hospital, gather a group in go sing Christmas carols, or share of favorite story.

You can also spread some Christmas cheer, by volunteering at your local Salvation Army, food pantry or a soup kitchen. Christmas is all about caring and sharing the joy and we can effectively put Christ back in Christmas and remove some of the promotional aspect that retailers have put on it.

There are many things you can do as a single person, or as a group, to spread the Christmas cheer. Celebrate Christ this year, instead of Christmas and you will find that your Christmas is even more special than you could have imagined.

It is when you're not even allowed to practice your beliefs, and I'm done.

I guess promotional is better than not celebrating at all, since our government has let all these other people that came to our country take over and put our beliefs, and traditions, behind everyone else.I could go on and on and tell you how I really feel, but I would probably be wrong according to all the people who came to our country.
p.s. When you come into my house you respect my beliefs, you don't change or stop them, because you don't believe.

Some great suggestions on helping those less fortunate, but with the wrong motivator. It isn't neccessary to believe the mythology behind "christmas" to help your fellow humans.
