Kathy Wiehl
Is exercising a task you'd rather skip? Has the monotony of doing the same exercise dvd over and over again left you feeling less than enthusiastic about keeping in shape? Maybe a change of routine is in order. Maybe you do not need a routine at all. Maybe just having fun doing things that are good for your body is all that is needed. Here are some ideas you can try to have a little fun with fitness.

Hula Hooping

Hula hooping is the latest trend in the fitness world and classes are available at gyms nationwide. The great thing about hooping is that you do not need a gym or a class or even an instructional dvd. Just get yourself a hoop and get those hips moving! Better yet, make yourself a hoop using the instructions on this website-http://www.jasonunbound.com/hoops.html

Play with your children

Yes, you read that right! I don't mean board games and art projects. Get outside and play until the street lights come on. Remember all of the games you played with your neighborhood friends as a kid? Teach them to your kids. It will be good for you in more ways than one. For a list of chasing games to get the family's heart pumping, see this website- http://www.gameskidsplay.net/games/chasing_games/

Trampoline

Bounding on a trampoline is not only fun but beneficial to your health and fitness. According to some, rebounding is good for your lymph nodes, blood, lungs, and helps slow the aging process.

Take a Hike

Grab your water bottle and head to the nearest state park where you will find trails leading you to waterfalls, mountain tops, or just through the woods. There is nothing like nature's beauty to take your mind off the hard work that you body will be doing.

Chores

What? Chores? I thought this article was supposed to be about Fun Fitness ideas? Ok, well I agree. Chores are not always fun. For some people they are never fun. However, if you count it as a workout and you are saving time by accomplishing two tasks at once, that has to count for something, right? Plug in that ipod, turn up the volume and work up a sweat while you get your dwelling spotless.

Video Games

No, I have not lost my mind. I'm talking about the ever popular Wii game console and the many fitness games available for use with it. The Wii Fit Plus game has just been released and promises many new features not available with the original Wii Fit game. Also worth checking out are Jillian Michaels Wii fitness games.
