Putting Things into Boxes

A Reflection on What We Call 'œorganization.'

David A. Reinstein, LCSW

Categorizing and
Compartmentalizing things
Places them,
Either of necessity,
Convenience,
Habit,
Ignorance
Or cruelty
Into one or more
Boxes
Of varying sizes
And shapes.

Putting things
Into those boxed
Compartments
Is probably OK
So long as
The compartmentalizer
Grants
That there are an
Infinite number of boxes
And that they are related
To themselves
And to each other
In an infinite
Number of ways.

That would be the same
As saying,
I suppose, that
There were no boxes
Or compartments
At all.

Ah,
The union of
The opposites.

What about putting boxes within boxes.

I have a difficult time categorizing my music; I could never find the right boxes for all my acquaintances! They all go into the "unique" box.

Clever, and fun to read. We do tend to compartmentalize and label people, don't we?

Moving things from one shelf to the next and from one box to another, I need to recruit someone who is a great organizer to go through some of my stuff.
