Quaker Muffin Bars - Banana & Oat - Product Review

JRS
I thought Quaker Muffin Bars would be a good choice for a convenient snack to eat along with coffee or tea in the mornings on my way to work, especially since I often want muffins for breakfast.

I'd tried Quaker Muffin Bars in the past but was not too happy with them. I found them very hard, grainy, and not very tasty. Microwaving the bars only made matters worse.

Then I spotted Quaker Muffin Bars in Banana & Oat flavor. These looked a little more promising. The box showed fresh banana slices alongside a golden oat bar and a small green label printed on the box promised these Quaker Banana & Oat Muffin Bars to be a good source of fiber. The Muffin Bars contain 4g of fiber and they are low in fat with 0g trans fat.

When I pulled open the foil wrapping of the muffin bar I was hit with the wonderful aroma of banana bread! The flavor was mild and the texture was firm, and admittedly somewhat grainy. You could definitely feel the whole grain rolled oats in the muffin bar.

The box said you could enjoy the muffin bar warm for a fresh baked taste. I haven't tried it that way yet but I'd definitely like to. You can heat the muffin bar right in its wrapper! You only need to vent one end of the wrapper and microwave on high for 10 seconds.

Overall I felt pretty good about having these Quaker Muffin Bars as a morning snack, but when I read the ingredients I was disappointed to find that High Fructose Corn Syrup was the second largest ingredient making up the muffin bar.
