Qualifications For Preschool Teachers
According to the federal definition, a high quality preschool teacher is one that has full certification or licensing by the state; a bachelor's degree from a 4-year institution; and shows competence in academic core subjects.
These qualifications will vary from state to sate though but accreditation is always necessary. Ultimately, the most important thing for high quality preschool teachers is that they are able to instill the love of learning into their students.
Qualities Of A Qualified Preschool Teacher
While qualifications are important, there are some qualities that are equally as important. One of the most important qualifications is patience. Since every child is different, you will need to be able to treat each child differently. This is something that early education training in classroom management will teach a quality preschool teacher how to do.
The way you act and react also plays an important role in your children's lives. Here it is not enough just to like or love children. You also need to show that you are enthusiastic about learning and teaching in order to be a high quality preschool teacher.
It can also be very beneficial to have at least some special training in regards to working with special needs children and a first aid and CPR certificate (mandated by some states) .
Why Qualified Preschool Teachers Are Critical
If you really want to have a quality preschool, then you must hire qualified preschool teachers who fit the aforementioned criteria. This is important because those children who attend a quality preschool will enjoy school well into the future too. So, make sure that you hire teachers who are able to teach basic concepts through play that incorporates all of your children's senses as this really is the best way for children to learn at this age. It is kind of tricky though as children really won't even know that they are learning. Nevertheless, this is something else that a high quality preschool teacher is going to do, as well as something that is going to make children really enjoy coming to preschool each day. Of course, this is what you want as you foster a love of learning in them.
In Conclusion
Understanding the importance of a qualified preschool teacher is the first step in creating a quality preschool. Employing these types of teachers is the second step. It is vital to take both steps if you really want to have a quality preschool that far exceeds your competition.
