How to Find the Perfect Preschool Teacher for Your Child

Jennifer Foote
Are you interested in sending your child to preschool? If you are, you will soon find that you have a number of different options. Choosing a preschool program to enroll your child in can a long and complicated process, but there is a way that you can simplify that process. Of course, you will want to closely examine the preschool program in question, but you should place a large percentage of your focus on your child's intended preschool teacher.

Although placing a large percentage of your focus on your child's preschool teacher is a nice approach to take, it is one that may not work for everyone. As you likely already know, preschool programs often come in a number of different formats, as well as sizes. Larger preschool programs often have multiple teachers and you may not be able to determine which preschool teacher your child will be assigned to ahead of time. With that in mind, if the preschool program you are interested in enrolling your child in only has one preschool teacher or if you are aware which teacher your child have, you will want to continue reading on.

When it comes to examining preschool programs, namely preschool teachers, there are a number of qualities that you will want to be on the lookout for. One of those qualities is the educational experience behind each preschool teacher. When examining preschool teachers, you may want to look for preschool teachers that have a number of years of teaching or educational experience behind them. With that in mind, preschool teachers who are new to teaching may be just as good as veteran preschool teachers. However, many parents prefer those who have experience working with children, as it often provides a certain level of comfort and security.

Another one of the many qualities that you will want to look for in a preschool teacher is pure interaction with children. Before enrolling your child in a preschool program, it is important that you visit the preschool in question and meet with each preschool teacher. You will either want to bring your child along with you or attend a live preschool session. This will give you the opportunity to examine how well the preschool teacher in question is able to interact with children. This is important, as you want to ensure that your child will be well taken care of. Search for preschool teachers that have patience and the ability to deal with children naturally, not in a fake appearing matter.

In addition to examining how well each preschool teacher interacts with children, it is also important to examine your own personal interactions with each preschool teacher. This simply involves using your best judgment. What you will want to do is examine each preschool teacher and their demeanor and behavior when you meet with them. You will want to look for preschool teachers that are attentive, answer each and every one of your questions, as well as those who give off the appearance that they know what they are talking about. As a parent, it is important that you follow your best judgment. If you get a "bad vibe," from any preschool teacher that you meet with, you may want to consider examining your other options.

The above mentioned qualities are just a few of the many qualities that you will want to look for in a preschool teacher. In most cases, the perfect preschool teacher makes a preschool program perfect as well. As a reminder, when in doubt, it may be best to examine your other options.
