Many people want to know if they can buy infertility pills over the counter. You can buy natural herbal and vitamin infertility pills over the counter. Fertility drugs may only be obtained through prescription. Of course, when you consider the side effects and risks of the drugs, it would be wiser to start with the natural infertility pills.

Many married couples struggle with getting pregnant, and therefore choose infertility treatment. If you have tried for more than a year to get pregnant, the next step might be to do an infertility evaluation. The infertility evaluation should begin earlier for those in their 30s - usually after about six months of unprotected intercourse. It's not always clear why a couple struggles to conceive.

Despite a tendency for many people to opt for high tech methods like IVF or IUI, a growing number of married couples are also trying alternative and natural ways to improve their chances of conceiving a child. Some of the natural ways to improve your fertility, without painful and expensive procedures, include diet, exercise, acupuncture and yoga. Taking into account the invasive and painful nature of some of the medical procedures used in infertility treatment, the high cost and especially the potential risks, it's wise to try all feasible natural options first.

In vitro fertilization (IVF) uses sperm to fertilize eggs in a lab, after which the fertilized egg is deposited into the uterus to grow. Eggs are harvested for this procedure just before the woman ovulates. As is the case with ovulation drugs and other procedures, IVF has side effect which can include multiple pregnancy and ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome.

For the couple having trouble conceiving for no apparent reason, the first type of treatment prescribed is often artificial insemination. IUI, a procedure which places sperm in a woman's uterus by means other than sex, when used with fertility drugs, has a success rate of about 15 per cent per cycle. The sperm are usually treated in a lab, to decrease the risk of infections, and increase the chances of fertilization. Around the time of ovulation, the sperm will be introduced into the uterus.

What is the link between infertility treatment and cerebral palsy? Research has demonstrated that children born with the help of infertility treatment may have a risk of being born with cerebral palsy that is higher than average. The journal Human Reproduction recently published a study of nearly 590,000 Danish babies born from 1995 to 2003, which found that children conceived throughinfertility treatment had double the risk of being diagnosed with cerebral palsy as children who were conceived in the conventional manner. The higher chance is believed to be mostly due to the higher rate of pre term deliveries caused by infertility treatments along with the higher rates of multiple births (54% of assisted-reproduction births are twins or triplets).

When a woman's fallopian tubes are obstructed, they can be opened or removed by surgery. Growths like fibroids or polyps, scarring from previous surgery, infection, and endometriosis may also qualify for surgery. After the surgery, however, one problem may be removed but the infertility may remain. Infertility treatment can be a long and involved process.

Problems with ovulation are common causes of infertility, accounting for approximately 25% of all infertility cases. Clomiphene citrate is regularly prescribed to solve ovulation challenges. If Clomid doesn't help then gonadotropins may be administered. A pregnancy carrying more than one embryo may occur with the use of these drugs, in which case your doctor will explain your options.
