Quality and Performance: Advanced Micro Devices (AMD)
An Overall Evaluation of the Microprocessor Company Advanced Micro Devices
Advanced Micro Devices has been around since 1969, just one year after their rival Intel was founded, and has really listened to the consumers' cry for affordable yet powerful processors that essentially make up the heart of any modern personal computer. Intel, holding the current majority of micro processor sales, tends to manufacture products that in my opinion occasionally fall short. Whereas Advanced Micro Devices focuses on performance, Intel instead focuses on building up their brand name as the "best" or the "fastest" processors to trick consumers into buying the more expensive brand. Meanwhile Intel's clams of being the manufacturer of the best gaming processor fall extremely short. While Intel's processors may have higher clock speeds in some instances compared to similar AMD processors, AMD chips almost always out perform their competition in benchmarking tests.
Why does Advanced Micro Devices perform better than their rival Intel even though Intel's processors may look better on paper? This is mainly because of their excellent understanding of computer systems and components. Coupled with an ATi graphics card, a personal computer with an AMD processor has the potential to run the newest and most demanding programs out there. Whether we're talking about computer games with complex shading and in-depth physics, to rendering digital 3D animations, to playing full 1080p high definition video with crystal clarity. I have personally done all this and more with my computer which I built around 3 years ago with a modest dual core AMD Athlon. The best part about my AMD based personal computer is that it will not fall behind the ever advancing wave of cutting edge technology any time soon. For anyone wondering which brand of processor to have in their personal computer, whether you want a custom built machine or a factory assembled desktop, laptop, workstation or more, the choice is clear, choose Advanced Micro Devices.
